Are circulars your friends?

Man, I love them! I've been doing flat knitting on my wonderful wooden circs and I just love them. Not to mention the wooden needles are sooooooooo infinately much nicer to use than those crappy $3 metal ones I had bought at walmart. I can't believe the difference a good needle makes, it is soooo much more relaxing.
I'd love to get that book Socks Soar on Circular Needles but I think it's probably out of my league yet.
So who else is in love with circulars? And wood? Aaahhh. I'm about ready to trash every metal needle I have!

I love my bamboo circulars! They are so much nicer to knit with! The biggest plus for me is lack of the annoying click clack of the needles, ugh, drives me batty.

But, oooh, bamboo is soft & warm, and more forgiving. Mmmmm. Reminds me it's time to start a new project

I my circs. They are especially nice for bigger projects that would take really long straights.

You're right, bamboo and wood circs are MUCH better than the metal ones!

Where did you find wood circs? All I can find are bamboo.

Renee,

I love my circulars but I don't have any bamboo needles.

I have a couple of Addi Turbo needles that are my favorite right now.

If you have some metal needles you'd like to find a new home for let me know! I just started knitting a couple of months ago, Allison is picking it up now. So far we haven't needed the same size needle at the same time yet.

Karen, that's awesome that your dd is learning to knit. Over the course of the next few weeks I'm on a major decluttering mission, so I will go through my needles, and I'll send any extras or duplicates your way if you pm me your address.

Renee,

That would be wonderful!

I should also add that Emily decided she wanted to learn too, it has not gone as well. I think we'll either try crochet or I'll get her one of those french knitter things.

I'm self taught for all the crafts/hobbies I do, I'm glad my girls are showing interest in the same so we can do things like this together.

I taught my mama to cross stitch a few years ago. I'd like to get her hooked on knitting too. Gotta pass these skills on when we can.

For a short time before I started Kindergarten (I'm 41 now.) we lived with my great grandmother. At that time she was in her early 90s and had quilted nearly all her life. (She lived to be 105.) I loved getting up in the morning and threading all of her needles for her and then sticking each one into this special piece of cloth she kept by her rocking chair. She could see well enough to piece and quilt but the needles were harder for her. I've never made a quilt, but it seems like I've always loved them. It must have started then.

I my circular needles too. They are all metal, though. I bought one set of bamboo needles once and hated them, they are so sticky and slow.

cheap aluminum needles do stink but Addi Turbos are a whole other thing. It's hard to explain but they feel very different.

they are not my friend.

I hate how I have to keep scooting everything around. Knitting, in general, frustrates me bc I can crochet 5 times faster. Frustrates me even more when I have to keep scooting stuff around circular needles.

I do have one set of addi turbos...they are definitely better but still bug me.

omg! i have gone crazy buying circs the last couple of weeks. i've bought five pairs of clover bamboo, two pairs of addi bamboo and two pairs of addi turbos. the addi bamboos are the hight of decadence, imo. right now I'm doing a pattern that calls for three different sized needles and I've had the right needles for each part. it's been sooo nice!
