Hey Washington mamas!

I'm happy to see the return of the area forums!

Are there any Washington mamas here that I'm not already acquainted with?

In case you don't know me -- which is likely since I don't post often -- I'm 35 (36 next month!) and a SAHM of 3. I'm also a LLL leader and am planning to become a Birthing From Within Mentor. I plan to start midwifery training in another year or two.

Hi ! Nice to meet you guys!

I am new to amity, and have lived in WA for 5 1/2 years. Originally from San Diego. I LOOOOVE this area, (whidbey island) and the weather and the people. It's pretty awesome.

I find I dont do the outdoorsy things I mean to, and thought I would do. Hiking, camping, fishing etc. I am going to try this summer.

Hi Amanda!

Nice to meet you Lorissa. Whidbey Island is nice. Do you live on the water (or near it) or inland? My friend's folks live right on the water and I've visited there twice. I love being by the Sound.

I live in Tacoma and can see a bit of the Sound from our back windows. It's just a hop, skip and a jump away.

I have lived her most of my life.

Wonder how many of us are actually on the East side

Hi Nina,

We have 4 seasons too! Spring, Summer, Fall, and Rainy.

I took a peek at your profile. What type of interpreting do you do?

Hmm I wish I had a water view, but that will have to wait til we buy a home in a few years.

Still, whidbey is pretty narrow, so you're always close to the water here. I have been meaning to get out of this area a bit and visit the olympic peninsula and tacoma, but I always find things around here to do instead. Hopefully I will have many years here to do that though.

The one cool thing I finally did last summer was whale watching in the san juans. That was amazing, and we didnt even see that many whales!

I am an Interpreter for the Deaf. Well... not right now as my baby is 6 weeks old and it is summer.
I usually work at Spokane Community College.
I like it there a lot. I am able to have enough flexible hours so we can pay bills (dh is a student) and my kids are with Dh or me most of the time.
I hate free-lancing! And I am too much a mother to work k-12 ....so the CC is perfect for me

(my DD wanted to say hi)

Nina, I was planning to become an interpreter but wound up with rheumatoid arthritis midway through college. I still completed an independent study in deaf culture and got through 4 quarters of ASL. Working at a CC sounds great!

Lorissa, whale watching sounds like fun. I've never been to the San Juans, but it seems like everyone I know who has gone really enjoyed the trip.

Wow... that would behard! I have a co-worker who was just diagnosed..her pain is mostly in her hips and so she deals with it. She worries about it progressing to her hands and losing her career.

4 quarters of ASL.. you must be pretty fluent

I STILL have never been to Silverwood! And it might be a while since all three kids are under 4! I hear it is a ton of fun I hope you enjoy it.
I will be passing through Portland to visit my best friend in Eugene at the end of august LOL!

Hello everyone! I just found this area forum, which is nice! I'm a sahm of 2 and a 3rd due in November. We're on Whidbey Island and I love it here (most of the time!). Hopefully we'll be here for awhile, but since dh is Navy, who knows where we'll end up next.

I'm here too - in Olympia. Mama to 4 and 6 year old girls.

Nina, my best friend just moved to Spokane this month. Her dh starts teaching at Gonzaga in August. If you belong to any AP/natural parenting groups or know of any, I would love to pass it on to her. She has an 18 month old girl.

Hi mamas, nice to meet everyone. My name is Dina, and I live in Everett, and have for 28 years. I am the mom to 11 kiddos, the oldest 6 are moved out, and the youngest 5 are at home, with the oldest being 15-1/2, youngest 5yrs old. I have lived in Washington most of my life, with a few years during my childhood out of the state. I don't mind the rain, or the grey LOL
