Sore urethra in Menopause

I understand why they say older ladies have a harder time with UTI/bladder infections. Sometimes I feel so sore there and skirts are certainly WAY more comfortable for the entire pelvic region.

I am using uva ursi. I think I was slipping into UTI trouble. I did eat alot of sweets and think I am more sensitive to sugars and yeast. The uva ursi took the problem practically away with a couple tincture droppers full, but it still looks kinda swollen. I am drinking marshmallow leaf in my tea to add soem muciligenous properties to soother the tract.

(I looked with a mirror to be sure everything was AOK down there-still swollen but better)

So my thoughts on it right now are wear skirts that give you plenty freedom of movement, air flow and cooler temperatures and watch sugars for healthy urethra.

although i'm not in the next phase of womanhood just yet, a urologist "diagnosed" me with idopathic (or microscopic) hematuria. basically it's microscopic blood in my urine from unknown causes. i had him do a cytology culture to rule out cancer since my grandmother just died from bladder cancer last year. i'm clear, but i still have the condition.

i wonder if there is something herbally i could do? i do think it is related to the candida issue i am trying to get control over in my body.

anyway......just thought i'd share

I am sorry about your grandma-we jsut went throught this with my youngest bro a week or so ago. His grandpa had kindey cancer found early and doing great. But my bro's bladder was irritable and he did have soem blood in the urine.

I was so worried, but he is fine upon the scope procedure done.

Marshmallow root is one of my favorite herbs for urinary tract. i used to help with pain after radiation and it was a blessing. Kinda coats everything as it goes into your mouth, drink the tea adn it feels slippery, and comes out the same way.
I love uva ursi tincture for UTI or bladder infection. Uva ursi, like cranberry keeps bacteria from attaching itself to the bladder, so it fights infection but cannot be used too much or it will wear ont he liver, so I take as needed.

Diet is good. I find I am way more sensitive to sugars, flours, etc... Maybe due to no estrogen? Not exactly sure. But things like nettles is good to help heal kidney cells and provide nutrition.
I am adding more of that in my food intake lately too.

There is an herb called pau d arco that is a candida fighter. I used only pre cancer treatment to keep things from getting worse (it also is a tumor fighter) but did not take it for anything else. Wish I knew more but you can see if that would work in your regiment on fighting cadida. Good luck adn let us knwo how things go....this forum is fine-I surely dont mind

lots of good info! thank you! i have some marshmallow root in capsule form & i've seen the pau d arco as a tea......suppose those will work well?

as for the candida elimination....... i just did a 7 day cleanse that was chocked full of probiotics & i was spared the "itchies" prior to my AF. i think i will do that once a month which is what the box recommended. it is so hard not to have wheat & sugars! but i've cut back dramatically & have lost another 5lbs!

Good for you mama!
You will hear me say that I am not a huge fan of capsules because once a herb has been ground down to powder it has lost alot of its power.
They are a good choice but not the best.

BUT you already have them and I would defiantely use them.

the tea, great. if you dont like that, try tincture.

Candida is truly an evil, isn't it/ Did I mention garlic? Use lots of garlic-it really helps
