Did anyone else think The Ring was really disturbing??? We bought it BEFORE we saw it and now I want to throw it out
I had this great idea though...lend the movie to someone and when you KNOW they are watching it or just finished, call them and say "7 days..." Wouldn't that be freaky?
Humble, trusting prayer brings direction and peace. Don't worry about clumsily expressed feelings. Just talk to your compassionate, understanding Father. You are his precious child whom He loves perfectly and wants to help. -Richard G. Scott
We watched it 3 days ago and I am still freaked out about it!! The movie is creepy!! I really regret watching it. Could someone else just watch the sequel and tell me about it, cause I don't wanna see it!

Okay I'm really wanting to see this, I wanted to see in the theater, but we never got around to it, and it's been out at the movie rental so we haven't seen it yet.
Somebody tell me why it's disturbing??
I really want to see it, but I'm wondering if I should cuz I wouldn't go to the bathroom alone for a month after I saw Candyman (how lame is that, lol??). And I was scared of being outside in the dark after seeing the Blair Witch Project, lol.
Oh, mama. I'd definately steer clear if the Candyman scared you!
I can't go into it too deeply without giving away the (VERY DISTURBING) ending but I'll say that the imagery is very graphic and...well freakish. The scenes from the videotape that they keep watching throughout the movie are bizarre and scary. You never reach a lull, either. It's tense and stressful to watch the *whole* way through and it's just...ick. LOLOLOL
OH yeah! That movie was super creepy. I thought it ended set up for a sequal too. I thought it was OK, just because I like scary movies but it did leave be pretty freaked and there were a few seriously disturbing scenes.

Well we watched it last night. Can I just say that it stunk - that would be a thumbs down for me, lol.
What a crappy ending, what a crappy beginning. Barely much of a story line, I'm just looking for a way to stick some disturbing images on film so I'll throw up this crappy story to go along with it kinda movie, lol.
I think they need to remake it with some more history of the crazy family, cuz the bits and pieces were driving me insane.
And I thought it was set up for a sequel too. Totally disappointed after hearing reviews about how good and scary it was.
Now the first Blair Witch movie scared the crap out of me, much scarier movie IMNSHO, lol.

LOL! My dh and a bunch of his friends went to see the late screening of this, and when they got back to their separate homes, they all called each other and did that. Some of the guys live next door, and one of the guys lives with us; he was in our room cause he was too freaked by himself in his own room; and when they called next door, you could hear the screams when the phone rang over there. It was really funny. Then they did it to the last guy who lives a block or so away, and boy did they hear about it the next day. I personally will never be watching this. I get too freaked! I didn't put to my feet to the floor in my room after watching "It" for like three nights running! LOL

hmmm depends on if your video store is into japanese imports
i read about the original "ringu trilogy" in fangoria magazine about 2 years ago and bought them off ebay. i was so happy when i learned that an american remake had been filmed! the japanese original is more psychological than the american version and the american version is more visual (the quick flash of the girl in the closet creeped me out) than the japanese. i collect horror movies (well mostly gore movies from italy, i.e. zombi, cannibal ferox, city of the dead, and suspense movies from japan etc, etc, etc) and while the movie isnt everyones favourite i thought it had some great scenes and it was refreshing to not have the same things that one normally expects from an american horror movie (of course that would probably be the fact that it *is* a remake, but still it was refreshing to see something else in the theaters).
i have talked with many people who didnt like either one but most of these people have a different version of a "horror" movie in their mind and some people just have different tastes. i see "the ring" as a thinking movie, others see it as nothing but a chain letter. my perspective is that it all depends on how much thought you give to it and when i think about it it acts on all the primitive fears that i have.
oh, and just a note, the original gives you more background on the child and the reasons she is like she is. watch ringu then ringu 2 (the 2nd movie starts right where the 1st ends) and then ringu 0 (the prequel).
