Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron

This is one of the few kids movies that I truly enjoyed. I thought the story was great, and I loved the scene where the foal was nursing and had milk all over his lips, then smacked it off. I thought it was adorable. Overall I thought the premise was good, and it was a good length for kids. What did you think of it?

I watched it w/ my 2 yr old.

He enjoyed the horses but the story was too mature for him.

My older kids (9 and 12) weren't interested enough to stay with the video.

I had a good time watching it but was glad I rented the movie...I don't want to watch it all the time so I wouldn't purchase it.

I liked it... we got it as a gift, and my 6 yr old loves it... so we are now a little sick of Spirit... but I do really like the parts where it shows him being born and the nursing, and all that... I like the lasting relationship with his mom too, and the fact that the horses don't talk... the first couple times I really enjoyed it.

(My dh thinks it is too stereotypical of a "bad white man", "good native american", but I told him that if it is stereotypical in history, why can it not be stereotypical in media?)

Okay I'm a horrible person because I hated it, it's just too sad for me. I cried through the entire movie at the theater and refuse to watch it at home now that Emma has it on DVD, every time I walk in the room when it's on, I start crying, lol. It really just made me want to free every horse I see, lol.

I think this is a great children's movie. I liked it so much that we purchased it. Marcus loves to pretend that he his Spirit and goes around the house kicking up his heels and neighing. He is a very sensitive lad and it is hard to find movies for him that we can enjoy too but this is a good one. I love the music and even when i am sick of watching it it is still nice to turn on, just for the music.
