Lightbulb Riding in Cars with Boys

This movie was good. Good acting and really good "story twists" that are not scary or disturbing in any way. It is heart felt and VERY real and just a plain old good movie.

For me this movie spoke a lot about what "others" must have thought my future looked like. (Being a teen mom and all) I am guessing that it would still be a good movie if it did not have that effect on you. I know that I will feel good to go back to my high school reunion and have Alex with me and know that I did not turn out ANYTHING like that, at all. But I have to admit, this movie hit home in some ways. When she feels like everything is unfair and it all got taken away, and just one thing after another holding her back from getting on her feet. I remember feeling JUST like that. For me this movie is a very, very real. Just after I watched it, I went and cuddled in bed with Alex and hugged him for about 20 minutes... telling him how much I wanted him and how loved he is.

God gave me one very speical gift he did not give Bev (in the movie) I have always been maturnal. I am VERY thankful for that.

Sorry to babble.

Love Val

Really? You guys thought it was good? I wanted to see it when it first came out, but my friend saw it and said it was sooo depressing, and that the ads were totally misleading, and she totally put me off seeing it.

I might give it another try now.

Thanks!

I thought the movie was OK, but it paled in comparison to the book on which it is based. Beverly D'Onofrio is a fabulous writer, and her experiences were much more complex and nuanced in real life as described in the book. I definitely recommend checking it out if the movie affected you.
