Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull
Okay, I am a mad Indy fan, so I *had* to see it, of course. It was textbook Indy, with action, humor, slight cheese, etc. No surprises there. The only thing I will say is I think the writers, er..lost the plot a little.
Not a bad movie, def a must see for any Indy fan, but I wouldn't rank it above a real blockbuster, yk?
We went to see it too and I thought it was really good. We bought the whole set to prep the kids and get them excited. So they had been looking forward to it for MONTHS.
I was a little surprised at how much "language" was in it.
I love love love the Indy franchise but I didn't care for the movie. But I thought Shaia was awesome in it and would love to see HIM as a spin off LOL.
My dh took my 9 and 12 year old to see it and the kids loved it!!!
They said it was scary, so probably not good for younger kids!
Oh, yeah, forgot to mention that part...my 11 and 13 yo, fairly blase kids, were a little less than impressed with some of the creepier parts. If your kid has any issues, I might skip it, or be ready for it, anyway.
We went last night, kids were asleep in 10 minutes, so missed the yucky parts. There were a couple of spots I thought, boy I'm glad Gabe (8) is asleep.
So it's a little scary & has some language? -- my boys are begging us to see it -- they've seen the original & loved it. I've been waiting to hear from mamas about it -- sounds like my boys are a bit too young still!!

Yeah, I would wait til dvd for them. It's not terrible, but def a couple sections I would think twice about for that age.
I haven't seen the new one yet. My mom and dad saw it with the intention of taking my almost 8 yr old ds with them the next day. After the movie they said no WAY. My mom said it was super gory. My bf and I stareted rewatchig the trilogy to get ready to go see it as the old films were favorites of ours when we were younger. I actually got the set with my ds in mind remembering them differently. I didn't realize how much violence there really was. I haven't seen them in so long and I was older than ds when they came out. I can't let ds watch any of those.

Personally, I wouldn't class it under super gory...to me, a Tarantino movie is super gory. This was just garden variety summer blockbuster cheese violence.
I haven't seen any of the indy films....does it stand alone or do you think it be more fun (for me) to see the originals first?
I don't know why I haven't ever seen the originals. It's totally the style of movie I'd love. I think I just "forget" to put it in the options category...for 20 years. lol.

Totally see the others first...you will get a lot of the injokes, and there are a lot of them, if you see the others before this one.
