Second Hand Lion

Starring Michael Caine, Robert Duvall, and Haley Osment
About a child left in the care of 2 aging and eccentric uncles. His mom wants him to cozy up to the uncles to get a hold of all the $ they have. They all grow to love one another, and along the way they start spending lots of $ (was it stolen or not?) and buy a second hand lion that ends up living in the corn patch.

Great feel good, heartwarming, family film. We laughed, we cried, were puzzled and bewildered and loved every moment of it!

Warning, at the end there is some film of child abuse, so you may wish to end the movie early for the kids.

I love this movie, I waited til it was released on DVD to watch it because I didnt think I would like it, but as soon as I got my hands on it and watched it I couldnt believe I had waited lol!! I do agree though, towards the end, when mom and a new guy come to the house, you may want to make sure theres no children in the room.

I saw this on Monday...and really liked it. I rented it for sick boy who was home from school, but he fell asleep. I watched it and folded clean clothes. It's refreshing to watch a nice family movie now and then.

I just watched it with my 10 yr old dd.

we had a lot of fun watching it.

I loved the story. Loved it.

The child gets roughed up/punched very briefly by a creepy man who only briefly appears in the film towards the end. It did cement how out of this world mean/jerky the man was which was integral in the ending of the story (which is a wonderful ending)

I was really looking forward to this and was dissappointed. It just seemed so over done to me.

I really liked this movie. Just saw it with Dh last night. It was fun and eccentric, and touching. Definately worth seeing. It is a bit bizarre, but bizarre can make for good story-telling. I would not reccomend the movie to young children because of the child abandonment and short beating scene...but I have been accused of being overprotective. Their are also several gun-shooting scenes that I would deem innappropiate for my kids.

We tried to watch it, but 5 minutes in, I had dh turn it off. Didn't think it appropriate for our 4 and 5 year olds. Plus, they weren't interested in it and kept playing. Maybe we'll watch when they're older.
