Gangs of New York
Ummmmmmmmmm, kind of divided on it. Not sure what or whether the purpose was...good cinematography. Interesting development with the father/son issue. Maybe that's why I didn't identify with this movie so much--too much with the male bonding/revenge issue.

maybe I just have a bad perspective because I read the nonfiction book it was based on (which is a really great read, by the way) but I was really irritated by the whole love interest thing. One of the reasons I like Scorsese (sp?) so much is that he doesn't typically bow to the usual Hollywood formula (okay, New York New York was kind of a honker). I got the feeling he just stuck a couple of pretty people in there to sell it. But I did like the Daniel Day Lewis character - he could play a peanut butter sandwich and I'd watch it.
