Have you Read the Hunger Games?

It's been suggested for a church book group. We do not only read religious books, but we try to screen for sex & profanity so as not to offend those more sensitive readers. Can someone give me a basic idea of what this book contains, without spoiling the plot?

Thanks in advance!

There isn't any sex, and I don't remember any profanity (if there is, it's little). There is quite a lot of violence.

The plot (without spoilers): a country is divided into regions and every year the capitol (sp?) makes each region give 2 children to The Hunger Games where they have to fight to the death. This is the capitol's way of saying, "We defeated you (during a rebellion), and this is proof that we will always dominate you."

We've read it for our church book group and we have a few in our group who are very picky and this one passed. Just recently we also did the next book after this one Catching Fire.
