There isn't any sex, and I don't remember any profanity (if there is, it's little). There is quite a lot of violence.
The plot (without spoilers): a country is divided into regions and every year the capitol (sp?) makes each region give 2 children to The Hunger Games where they have to fight to the death. This is the capitol's way of saying, "We defeated you (during a rebellion), and this is proof that we will always dominate you."
