Rick Warren....

I thought his prayer was awesome - especially the end. And loving Aretha, too. This is so cool.

I made my decision to vote for Obama after watching his conversation with the candidates back in August. I thought his prayer was true and heartfelt. I'm thankful.

And I want Aretha's hat...

I thought it was OK. Not that I'm going to critique a prayer. I liked the middle, I thought it was cool to end it with the Lord's Prayer.

I agree. I kinda thought everyone would join in and pray along with him.

I kind of felt like it was 'speechy' not particurally heartfelt...but who I am to judge??

I was a little dismayed that not many people were saying the Lord's Prayer...including Pres. Obama.

Text: Pastor Rick Warren, Inauguration Invocation | January 20, 2009 : Clips & Comment

I find it hypocritical that he prays for freedom and justice for all, but fights against it.

The Lead

The one by Gen e Robinson was okay, IMO. It's not as focused as it should be but was all in all decent.

The one that I love and that had me standing and clapping and crying was the one by Joseph Lowery - Transcript: Rev. Joseph Lowery's benediction - Los Angeles Times

I've printed it off and plan on praying it every night for a long time to come.

Rick Warren's prayer was right on and reflected my heart perfectly in my prayer for the new President and his family.

The prayer by Reverend Lowery was terrible, IMO. That little ditty was extremely racist IMO. It was a speech and not a prayer to the living God.

Actually, it's part of an old civil rights chant. - Joseph Lowery - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Well, I think the fact that we have witnessed an African American being sworn to the presidency proves that it's no longer applicable. The vast majority of those who voted for him were white. Yet the white are not doing what's right? Say that about a black man and you'd get beat up. A black man can say that about whites though and it's fine.

Reverend Lowery is more than anything a symbol of the struggle. He was part of some of the bloodiest civil rights protests, worked with Dr King and the Bus Boycotts, stood up against Wallace. He is part of the old generation that fought the good fight, and i think ti was very respectful for Obama to include him. Obama isn't part of that generation of men, but he has great respect for them, and realizes that their fight made all of this possible.
