No. Because we don't vax for a slew of reasons - but, that aside - the shot is less effective than FluMist, but flumist sheds. And, neither are certain to protect from all strains of the flu. Last year that horrible flu that went around? We had it for, I swear, six weeks. It was all over the news that hundreds of people were hospitalized who HAD received the vaccine because it was a different strain.
I wonder if these vaccines are causing the bugs to morph and get stronger and harder to treat.

Personally, I think it is one of the most useless shots there is. Also it is ineffective in the under 5s. If you are worried about flu, then I suggest you make sure everyone in your family is getting enough vitamin D. Vitamin D is much more effective than any flu shot.

Great links, Deborah.
Do you happen to know the best dosage for kids? I got the 400iu for Jack (carlson D Drops are finally here at Whole Foods) and I take the 1000iu. Should I give the kids the 400s or 1000s?

...I saw the dosage on the second link. It looks like around 2000 is best?

That is a difficult question to answer because it depend of the person.
However, if you have little UVB exposure, my advice is as follows: healthy children under the age of 2 years should take 1,000 IU per day—over the age of 2, 2,000 IU per day. Well adults and adolescents between 80–130 pounds should start with 3,000 IU per day while those over 130 pounds but less than 170 pounds should take 4,000 IU per day. Those over 170 pounds should receive 5,000 IU per day. Two months later have a 25-hydroxy-vitamin D blood test, either through ZRT or your doctor.
What is the best brand of Vit D drops? Or is there only 1 on the market. My kids are 10 and 13 too. Thanks Deborah....you are such a wonderful wealth of knowledge!!!!

"I got a wocket in my pocket"....Griff trying to socialize a feral kitty we found. I guess we are fostering it.
I get it for those who either need it for health reasons or else those who would have a difficult time in school if they missed a lot.
So that means DH gets it because of his severe asthma.
I get it because, we all know that the family falls apart of mom is sick.
DD18 gets it because she's in college and can't miss classes.
DD16 gets it because she's in her junior year of high school and misses enough school with her sensitive stomach (missed 5 days so far this year already).
DS8 and DD5 won't get it. They're homeschooled and if they get sick, they have no underlying conditions that would make it worse. So I just don't do it for them.
