"Master, which is the greatest commandment in the law?
Jesus said until him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.
This is the first and great commandment.
And, the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
On these two commandments have all the law and the prophets."

I think she did explain it already... I still don't get it though. At all. Palin worried me way more than McCain did.

This summer around the fourth of July everyone was shooting off fireworks in our neighborhood. Gedalya didn't remember it from last year - and was frightened to the core. I think the 4th fell on a Friday night this past July. anway, Gedalya heard one go off - I was outside at the end of hte block talking to my neighbors when Gedalya heard it - ran screaming out of the house down the block toward me. His fear was palapable - he could not calm down and talked about it for a very long time after. I noted then that Gedalya was frightened from the sound of 1 or 2 fireworks. Extremely - where he had nightmares after. In Israel, little children, teenagers, etc live that fear all day and night every single day of their lives. They never know when is the next time that they are going to be bombed, run over by a bulldozer, exploded by a suicidal palestinain, etc.

The Palestinians only say they want peace. What they want is pieces of Israel and no more Israelis - until Israel is all theirs.

These are all FACTS, not fear tactics. It is the democratic platform.

Those are not fear tactics. those are some of the many reasons I voted for him.

Frankly, I believe the conservative christian right is the reason why the Republicans aren't winning. I believe that the one party truly has two parties in it. And, I believe that they need to call a spade a spade and have a party divorce. I believe that the traditional republican party - the one that was originally more in line with what we now call the libertarian party - has been completely changed by the addition of the christian right who wants the government out of peoples' lives EXCEPT in a whole litany of personal rights issues. Those are the people I feel most badly for with this election.

Jodi, I wasn't scared if McCain were to have won. I wasn't really scared with Bush, even though I really really disagreed with most of his policies. I'm a liberal democrat, but a conservative republican doesn't scare me. Disagree, yes. Scare, no. I think that's what is going on.

And yes, some of what scares people is exactly why I voted for Obama.

I do get annoyed at the rhetoric that isn't even true. Seriously, out of all of this, I am just really annoyed at Tiffany's reduction of Obama's whole career to "community planner".

I heard Brownbeck on NPR yesterday. Very good! Anyway, he addressed some of this. I very much agreed with him, too.

yeah, actually, me too. I do think he's inexperienced for this job (which I then have to think that there actually aren't many with experience going in, of course) and that concerns me, but he's done more than just be a community planner.

I do have to say that it was a really interesting experience to watch this election and to really, truly not care who won. I've never had that experience before.

oh, and the only candidate that's ever inspired fear in any way in me was Kerry... and I can't even remember why I was afraid he'd win since obviously he didn't and I can't even remember at the moment if I've had breakfast - so apparently, my memory is crap. Beyond that.. I can't say I've ever been scared. Worried about some things, definitely.

Randah - I agree that fear is on both sides - and certainly valid. However, Israelis do not teach their children to hate and kill Arabs as part of their religion. I agree that there may be bad apples in the bunch - there are people off of their rocker in every part of the world, but they do not comprise the masses.

I remember the last election and just feeling sick to my stomach for either of the choices. Even after I voted for Kerry... just to not vote for Bush... it made me sick. It was really nice to not feel that way this time.

I was never taught to hate and kill Israelis. And believe it or not I have Jewish friends that I care for deeply.

Randah, I'm sorry because inevitably you and I are going to end up getting hurt. I'm not accusing you or your family in any way. My apologies.
