You know, I dont at all dishonor how you feel about Obama but one of the things that bugs me is
everyone says he will take away our guns
that we have to be afraid of socialism
fear that abortions will be ok (they already are people-how many women do get abortion)
I wish I had the money for my own personal healthcare. I did not vote for Obama for that reason, but those of us that have no access to a physician due to lack of finances have a real struggle.
I know this first hand when I was sick this year for months, in serious pain and was under a doctors care 3 months who saw nothing wrong.
The cancer program then kicked me off the program because apparantly i cost them too much money.
it took 2 months of selling my tail off to afford to go to a gyn. It cost $250.
I lived in physical agony for 3 months before I actually had the money to go.
And still did not cure my problem but it was a great start.
I am not a loser! I just cannot afford healthcare and I can pretty damn well take care of most things that come up but this was a huge mystery.
So I can surely see that side. People are sicker than I was and they cannot afford a doctor.
Some of the fears sound like extreme right scare tactics I use to be under that never seemed to really be true.
I am not mocking you mama, but the fears I hear sound so much like the same ole stuff I heard preached for over 20 years through religion.
And often it is just fear...not true motives of the ones they speak out against.
The only fear I had in this election was from what I have already seen in action and it devastated me.
In so many ways.
None of us exacly knows the future.
You know thinking back to Claire talking about Hitler.
About 10 years ago I received an email forward asking me who i woud vote for and they put 3 candidates on this email without who they truly were.
The one I voted for based on my moral code was hitler (unbeknowst to me until after i submitted and got the results)
None of us really knows what is going to happen. How could we. We just make the best choice we can with the information we have.
I feared all those things you said under the republican administration too.
Again alot of this is so local government as each state governs itself on many of these issues. So be a voice there. dont give up what you beleive in despite who is president.
(I am sorry to be a broken record but the presidency is not the end of what you want to fight for)
I can understand that. But I have a hard time wrapping my brain around how someone with "Palin '12" in their sig fears inexperience and naivete in the area of foreign policy.
I completely respect your right to think and feel whatever you'd like in this free country. But it doesn't make sense to me.
Palin has more executive experience than Obama and will have 4 more yrs of experience come 2012. Obama has never had a real job (a community planner does what?) nevermind one of detrimental importance.
As a side note ... I am sooo sick of hearing "yes we can" and all the race hype. Him being black, white, purple or whatever color/race is not what will or will not make him a good or bad president. If you don't want race to be an issue, then don't make it one!
Me too. Nobody has been able to really say anything concrete other than "I'm afraid". Afraid of what? Honest question...I really want to know, in case I'm supposed to be afraid as well.
I will again restate my concern/fear. I'm very concerned about what is going to happen to Israel - that country is an integral part of me - it holds my soul and my people (and ftr, I'm very patriotic and thrilled that I live in America). If, say Iran were to attack Israel (or Syria, or Lebanon, or Jordan, or say Lybia, etc) Obama has stated that he would first ask our (the United States) allies what to do before coming to a decision and deciding to help or not Israel. I'm sure many of you could care less about Israel, but do you think that Iran will just stop with blowing Israel to bits? Haven't you heard them say how they want to get rid of America and Americans?
Here's a link to a blog post - I'm still searching for the article in the original - I know it was written in the Yated Ne'eman (a Jewish newspaper)(but this newspaper is just now starting to go online)... that gives you a little look at what Iran has already done. Shirat Devorah: Hijacked Iranian Ship was a Dirty Bomb Meant for Israel on Yom Kippur
You don't have to look through all of these - here are some political cartoons from an Iranian. Iran Views America

But Dannielle asked about foreign policy experience, not general executive experience. Obama has never had a real job? Being a senator is not a real job?

I dont think anyone WAS making it a race issue, simply responding to what is being said.
The whole race issue is interesting, like I said before McCain got some support because Hillary was female and Barack is mixed.
So the race and gender issue has been HUGE in this election simply because, as has been stated a million times,
This election has been historic for many reasons.

Are you saying "yes we can" is race hype?
No doubt!
I mean, I'm trying to be as tolerant and peaceful as I can here - a good sport and all. But, surely you cannot even begin to think that Sarah Palin is a qualified presidential candidate. Repeatedly polls showed that she hurt McCain's chances.

Obama was absent for the vast majority of the senatoral votes. And honestly, *I* don't think being a senator is a real job anyway. Most senators had real jobs before they were senators (Drs, attorneys, farmers, etc).
"Yes we can" is most definitely race hype with its inference to the civil rights movement.

Tikva, I want to ask something that might upset you, but I mean it in no way to hurt you or what you beleive, because I respect that.
What I want to know is this? Why is it then when there are to be peace talks and cease fires, Israel often still retaliates?
How can this possibly help?
Living in a land that everyone claims is there God given peice of ground is really tough because all those that beleive so will defend it to the end.
Obviously the US has not been too successful all these years.
Although we are still an Ally to Israel, what are we suppose to do that has not been done?

She hurt McCain's chances because of the extreme left's uproar over her & her conservative beliefs. It had nothing to do as her qualifications to be VICE president.

I should have been more clear. In regards to the race thing I was referring to the media
I wanted to add that while I have expressed fear about Obama - my above post is the main reason. Although I disagree with him in many areas, they do not cause fear. Just disappointment along with the hope that he's right and I'm wrong. Although I do have serious concern about his views of keeping America safe.
and then there's this: American Thinker: Obama's Civilian National Security Force

And who has in the last 20 years from the republican party? Twenty years. None. No one. They won't do it.

Obama will support stricter gun control.
Like not allowing people to carry machine guns? Oh no! What ever will we do when moose hunting and shooting wolves from our helicopters?

Obama will raise taxes (doesn't matter on who, it will stifle economy regardless).
That's not a fact. You don't know that yet. That has yet to be seen.

Obama will implement some sort of gov't run healthcare.
Two words - medicaid and medicare. They're already implemented. He's offering *affordable* healthcare as a part of his platform. Again, yet to be seen exactly what it will entail. And surely my having an option for McCain's very own healthcare insurance that he is offered as a senator doesn't encroach upon your ability to maintain the private insurance you currently carry. If you don't need it, and aren't going to use it, why deny those of us who DO?
And, sorry folks - the people have spoken and it wasn't even remotely close. Clearly America is widely made up of Democrats - or at least those who do not want the Republican control any longer. Obama is not freaking Hilter. That's disgusting. He's not the anti-Christ. He's not a savior. He's a human being who cares about PEOPLE living here TODAY and making America a better place for our children!
Look, the Republican control blew it the last 8 years. This war has killed four times the amount of Americans as 9/11. It has sucked the life out of our economy. It has screwed the mortgage industry. It's time for something new. Clearly the Republican Platforms are.not.working.
THAT is what "Time for Change" means, people.
And that's it for me. You've had 8 years, now we get our four to try and clean up the **** stained streets. I just hope we can recover from this.
