affordable healthcare for my son where I don't have to fight with an insurance company to pay for more than one medically necessary brace per three years
Dem control won't do any better, ladies. When you get right down to it, Obama and McCain don't really believe all that differently.
I guess we all just have to wait and see.
I TRULY hope that all the HOPE everyone has hung on him amounts to something. I hope he changes this country for the better, but I don't think it'll happen and I'm not holding my breath.
while you can hold your breath, if you wish, with democratic restoration of the clean air act and emissions controls (FINALLY!), you won't *have* to, for the first time in many years.
and i think there are MAJOR differences in dems and reps. we've learned that these last 8 years if nothing else.

Christi, scoot over and make a little room for me, will you?

dh and I are thrilled...one of the first things Bush did was set the factories free of their emissions regulations.....to increase their profits of course. ironic eh?

Honestly I think voting for or against someone due to race is just stupid. Who fricking cares? It just so shouldn't matter but I've heard many people straight up say that they voted for him solely based on race. Dumb.
Well, obviously that is rediculous, but I can garuntee there were many who voted for McCain simply because he WASN'T black. I don't think anyone (here) at this point has said they are voting for Barak because of his color, they are simply proud that FINALLY for the majority of our country, the color of his skin doesn't matter.
I voted for Obama, not for the color of his skin, but for the things I believe he will work towards for our country.
I cried not because my candidate won, but because we just watched history in the making. My children got to see the first African American voted President of this great country. A coutry that was not so great 40 years ago when something like this was not possible.
I also would have cried had we voted in our first female Vice President. It's about HISTORY and being proud of our country and our people.

Me too! McCain is a good man. His speach was moving, and the people in the crowd booing just solidified my feelings towards all the people who sent hate emails bashing Obama and passing around conspiracy theories. I'm so glad that people like that are not running our country right now. (Not McCain, his supporters who campaigned using hate and fear)
I really do not think that will happen. But, I can understand that you would have that fear. I think that it has been used unfairly as a tactic by some churches to get their members activated to vote. I will fight for your rights to practice YOUR beliefs for you and yours as much as I would fight for religious freedom (and freedom from religion) for all.
Me too! And I am not Christian, but I will ALWAYS fight for religious freedom. For ALL
Eight years ago I cried when I looked at my small baby and thought about the world that he would grow up in.
We found ourselves mired in two wars.
We outed our own CIA member.
At a critical time we trashed our own enviroment so recklessly. We had to take our own government to court in order to be able to drink clean water and breathe clean air. At the same time we did not make any advances in green technology because we funded the coffers of oil barrons.
We adopted a very narrow view of what type of person is acceptable and entitled to the human rights.
We alienated the rest of the world and undermined our position as a "superpower."
We didn't recognize that many citizens were very unhappy with the status quo. Those who disagreed with policies were, at the least, marginalized.
There is more (supreme court, etc) but I am tired.
Tonight I cry because there is hope that we can make some amends. Obama is not afraid to address these issues out in the open. I have hope that we can be a country every citizen has a fair shake and a voice. A place where caring about your community above your wallet is not considered a un-American.
Very well put! When my country invaded another country I lost all faith in my government. I was ashamed to be American.
Now I have hope that America can climb back out of the muck and be something to be proud of again.

I am not religious at all and I was terrified that McCain would force his religion on me and my family. By this I mean, Christians are constantly citing the bible for reasons for and against things. As someone who does not believe in the bible, it seems ridiculous to force non-Christians to accept those beliefs and create laws.
The above describes my position. I have felt more and more alienated by my government... I feared (and still do) that Freedom of Religion does not include me having a right to NO religion. It's scary...
