Those of us with fall '01 baby girls... gifts for bday and Christmas

I have NOT had any difficulty getting ideas for her birthday or Christmas until now. I have no clue what to get her.

I am thinking for her birthday of taking her to a salon to get her hair done and then to get our nails and toes done together - and then out to eat - just her and I.

Christmas has me REALLY unsure, though, from Santa. Her brothers are getting one large ticket (about $150) item each (two older boys are getting digital cameras with acessories and Adam is getting a large slot car race track). So I want to get her one large gift from Santa.

ok...

ideas please!

Heather, are there any places that do crafting on the island? Here there is a place called corks and canvases that just opened that you can go and paint a picture, and also a place that does pottery. Is she crafty and into that sort of thing?

Would she like something like an ipod that she can listen to music? Tell us about what she likes!!

ok, I am prefacing this by saying that I know she is spoiled. lol She is the only girl.

She has an iPod. She has a computer (that she shares with Adam). She has a nice wooden dollhouse and all the stuff to go with it. She has 3 Bitty Babies and tons of clothing/accessories (her gma and gpa are requested to get her a stroller for the babies). She plays Polly's all the time, but does not need any more.

I can find a bunch of 'little' things... but I am really looking for one larger gift for her. sigh...

I remember you saying that you were digging out your machines again. Do you think she is ready for a sewing machine? If not, this is pretty cool Or maybe this AND a machine? She could so some sort of felt appliques on the squares and then just knot them together? Maybe give her a project to work on as a welcome home gift for you dh? Or for the new baby?

crap add the link!

I seriously have been considering getting her a sewing machine, but I think I want that to be later... either 10 or 12. She just isn't quite ready to handle it yet... and we don't have anywhere to set one up for her.

But we have been looking... and thinking along those lines. She does like to do projects, and I have been looking at projects (sewing, beads, knit, etc)... but... they are like the 'small' gift form DH and I... not big Santa gift, kwim?

This year the boys were easy. I ordered them all today because I flet so confiedent about all of them. Usually I am going back and forth about at LEAST one of the boys until the week of Christmas.

Lindsey's a July '01 girl. She's getting a wooden dollhouse, but you said you've already got that. I've decided to wait on the sewing machine as well.

what about a pottery wheel and some clay? scrapbooking supplies? a pink digital camera?

I've just started brainstorming for the holidays. I think my Hannah will be getting a set of knitting circle things like this Loom Knitting | Lightening Online There is a set at a local store that comes in a little tote and with yarn and project ideas and such. She just recently got an 18" doll for her birthday (her gift from us was her party and dress for the party) and so I may get her the easiest kwik sew pattern for 18" doll clothes (there are three progressive pattern envelopes) and some supplies to go with her sewing machine (that she shares with her brother). I'm also thinking of some magazine subscriptions (meant to do that last year but in the end felt like we had enough). We don't always do 'big' gifts and so far haven't thought of anything that would be needed/wanted that would fit the bill for this year so its not on my radar. She loves projects so all of my ideas seem to be going that direction this year. If I don't get it for her ahead of time then I will get her a scrapbook kit. Big brother might get a digital camera.....I might get her a pink one, not sure if I want to go that way or not yet.

Her brother has a pottery wheel they they use together sometimes.

I thought about a pink digital camera... she would love that I think. I have to really think whether I am ready for her to have a digital camera. She's too big for the little kids' one - but I'm not sure she's ready for a real one, either.

I'm looking at a bunch of craft kids by Alex... and put them into a large box all together. THat might be our best bet.

Lindsey was using my hand me down camera and was taking awesome pictures - she'd definitely outgrown the fisher price one, and she passed that one to Leila. It died - but I was amazed at just how well she did.

W. is a 6/01 baby and is getting a plasma car and magnatiles for Christmas. For her 7th birthday we took her to JumpZone, out to eat, and to get a manicure and pedicure with her cousin (and her sisters at Jumpzone).

See, I'm getting her oldest two brothers cameras. Not sure i should get the 7 year old the same thing as the 11 and 12 year olds. I think she would like it, but not be as wowed as the boys will be. kwim? I don't think she would really appreciate it as much as she would something else.

I'm getting this one in red for Nate:
Casio Exilim EX-Z77 7.2MP Digital Camera - TechToysForLess.com

I have the blue one and it's perfect to tote around with me, but it has a lot on it, too. Austin is getting the 8 MP one in orange.

I am getting Adam a slot car race track - it's huge.
