Ask the people of Iraq if it is a worthless war. My brother and friend are there right now - one as a Marine, one in the Navy. Both said that the Iraqis are grateful. War sucks - there's no question. But freedom isn't free.
Thank you for your family's sacrifices while your brother serves.
I don't get involved in political discussions very often. I can't believe on this site which supports mothers, there are people that won't vote for another mother based on the fact that she can't be a nurturing mother while working. From what I understand, her DH stays home with the children. Michelle Obama has been on the campaign trail for 18 months, leaving her children in someone else's care. Does that make her not dedicated to her children?
I understand that everyone has strong opinions about this very important election coming up. But, I don't think that we need to attack other women here.
The article also says she took the baby with her to the office when she went.
I have no idea who I'm voting for but I fail to see her as some sort of bad mother because she went back to work. She the governor of a state, for cryin' out loud. I'm guessing she has things that need to get done.
The baby goes to work with her, AND she breastfeeds! I think she is prob a devoted mother , with a career, and seems to be able to manage both very well
My father fought in three wars (WWII, Korean, Vietnam).
He is a political scientist too.
He is and has always been against the war in Iraq.
He isn't against it lightly but against it as truely a misrepresented war to the people of the United States of America.
He feels intense emotion towards the military personal who were sent there on the orders of the commander and chief.
He is voting Obama (and being the patriotic american, who was a soldier, he never voted before due to the idea that the commander and chief should be followed where they lead).

And where are the attacks on other women here? I haven't seen that, just passionate debate. Unless you mean about Palin? I find it shocking that she would return to work after just three days, (I personally was in the hospital for four days after E was born) from a perspective of healing and rest, not to mention how often a newborn nurses.
My next question would be - are we not supposed to question her motives simply BECAUSE she's a mother and a woman? Or is it because she's a republican?

I don't know much about her. But, something bothered me. McCain kept spouting on her being a devoted mother, yet she looked to have a very young baby like just a few months old. I could be wrong. But, how devoted can you be to a 6 mo old if you are running for vp?
This is the first one, and then a few following. I don't know how to do multiple quotes.
I don't think anyone should vote for her because she is a woman, I am just surprised to read a poster here won't vote for her because she has a baby.
It would be terribly hard for me to leave a newborn, I didn't return to work after I had mine, 12 yrs ago. It seems to me that the family has it worked out. Trig, and her DH went to work with her.

*someone* had to challenge the change... hilary couldn't do it , so mccain will try ~ w/ a woman by his side.
It is a political move, nothing more. This is politics.
He is trying to get some of the Democratic vote. Hey, it is just like Jury selection. If there was a white male southern Democrat running he would have gone with a male running mate...
Sway it my way..so I WIN is the tactic. It is not about change. If it was about change...

that is fascinating! Gonna have to tell dh that one. His whole family is Navy and we are well familiar with the issues you are touching on.
