Another question from me today, Wireless internet?

I talked to the guy at game stop and he told me that I could automatically connect my wii if I had a wireless router. Or I could run a loooong cord to connect to my computer (not doing that). Do I just call my internet (comcast) and ask for a wireless modem? Are they a lot more money every month?

No, you could go just about anywhere and get a wireless router. Linsky is just one of the brands of them. I do believe that only certain routers work with the wii though so be careful. I have DSL, then I have a wireless router hooked up so that all the computers in my house are pick up wirelessly and my wii picks it up too.

Yup, that's what we have, the dsl modem hooks into the router, the router then connects to any computers that have wireless cards in them or you can hardwire your main computer if you don't have a wireless card. That just consists of a wire going from the wireless router to the computer. If you get a compatable router for the wii it automatically hooks itself up to it, it's really neat!

This is it. wii usb connector - Google Product Search

We have our Comcast modem hooked up to our desktop and then the router is connected to that modem. We run our laptops off the wireless signal. Just make sure when you do that to secure your connection. HTH!

ok, so this thread piqued my curiosity and I went downstairs to see if I could get the Wii hooked up. It recognizes the wireless signal, but when I try and put the WEP key in, it won't work. I have 4 WEP keys--I have 2 laptops each using one. I tried all 4 of them just incase and none of them worked. Weird.

But my wireless connection is secure, so I need the WEP key generated by my router in order to connect, no?

Okay, for the clueless new WII owner, can anyone tell me why you hook the internet up to the WII?

You can play games online and if I understand correctly you can even browse the intenet if you buy and download opera (500 wii points I think). We have bought a few of the old games but other than that we haven't done anything. My SIL keeps telling us to go buy guitar hero 3 so we can play against them (they livein another state)
