First the whine: My DD just lost her brand new pretty wool mittens that I bought her for Christmas We were out on a long walk to the bakery and she must have dropped them somewhere along the way I know when we left the bakery I didn't put them on her (but didn't realize they were missing until on the way home when she was complaining her hands were cold) and they didn't find them there. By the time we got home it was almost dark and she was tired and ready for a nap so I can't go back out to look for them. I doubt we'll find them tomorrow.....
Anyway, I have 2 skeins of pretty wool that I would love to have made into a little matching set for her - a hat, a scarf with a hole to loop the other side through, and a pair of mittens WITH A CHAIN lol Anyone up for the task? How much?
thanks mamas. I hate losing things it drives me mad. If it weren't for DD I'd be out there with a flashlight right now looking for them
Having scrunched up my face in thought, is that what you want?
I have in my possesion just now little mittens, but they're teeny, how big are her hands?
she means a chain knitted between the two gloves, so that they are attached. Then you run the gloves through the sleeves. if the kid takes the gloves off, they just dangle at the wrist of the jacket.
I have a set like that for Aidra. They are awesome. we haven't lost them.
Helenb on mamadrama knitted them for us.

Yes, yes - a keyhole scarf - I guess that is what you call it lol I've seen them a few times but didn't know the name. It allows you to have the scarf secured somewhat without actually having to tie it I'll see if I can find a picture of what I am trying to describe.
And again yes, yes to the chain - I am pretty sure somewhere along our walk DD got sick of the mittens and slipped them off. If she had had a chain, they would come off her hands but just hang and she wouldn't have lost them!!!
That Etsy set is so cute - that is where I bought her mittens before - again - and they cost about as much
Her hands are pretty small I think - she's only 2 and is a bit smaller than average I think What kind of mittens do you have??
This is what a friend of mine made (but I don't want ears on DD's hat ) I'm not that picky about the specific knitted pattern, but I like the idea of the keyhole

I bet Megmama could do it. She's brilliant at knitting.
What a fantastic idea, and I hope you find her mittens tomorrow near home. It's my experience that dropped things often remain where they were dropped for some time since almost nobody walks so they don't get picked up. Around here it's only the school kids who walk and they would probably not notice the mittens or bother to pick them up if they did.

they're 2 and a half inches acoss and about 6 inches tall, including the ribbing at the bottom. They're knit with two strands throught with hemp/wool yarn I got from a mama here that I I'm so gonna when I run out. Unfortunately I knit these when I was still kind of a fiber newbie and didn't realize that a high hemp content combined with double stranding would make them not stretch kwim? So the ribbing will because well, it's ribbing, but the length won't have much give, so they're mainly for just wee little hands. They can encompass my 6yo's hands but the ribbing is on the ball of her hand if that makes sense. Maybe I should unravel them idk I'm rambling.
I can get a pic of them if you want them I'd send them ffs after I close the thumb hole on one.
Well I found ONE!!!! ARgh! I think tomorrow we'll go again and maybe the other one will turn up. I had to kind of hurry today to get home because I was expecting delivery guys to show up. We should be able to take our time tomorrow.
Leah - too bad you are busy! Let me know if you get some time okay? You know the yarn I have in mind is actually yarn I bought from you! Funny. It is Malabrigio (sp?) in purples - I think it was called grape something. Love it! And I actually think the lost mitten might be the same yarn - now that I have one back I will have to compare it.
El Ducko - that is so sweet! I'll measure DD's hands and see if they will fit Thank you!
