What can I do for a burst eardrum?

Is there anything that can be done for a burst eardrum? The pressure is finally gone, but it is oozing blood now, and the other ear feels like it is filling up now. I know that I need to keep it dry but is there anything else I need to do? Besides going to the dr? That is not an option right now, since they cost $ and he will prescribe meds that I cant get right now. I called them the other day and they didnt have any samples that they could give me, so I doubt that they would have any now, besides being a weekend.

nothing. I had a terrible ear infection and when my ear drum finally bust I was SOOOO relieved!! It felt 100 times better. I could not hear well out of that ear for almost a month though, so don't be worried if that happens.

It is controversial whether you should take antibiotics or not when the eardrum is perforated. I am thinking if you can't afford the meds you can't afford much in terms of herbs, etc. (those add up!). I would keep the outer area clean and don't put anything inside your ear. Keep an eye out for other symptoms of infection in case you do need to seek additional care. Take care!

The ear, nose, and throat doc saw us and said there is nothing to do. Both times they healed really really quickly.

I'm just agreeing. When dh had a horrible ear infection his eardrum ruptured. he was taking antibiotics for the infection and it ruptured anyway. Doc told him to let it ride. It took a while to clear and he did suffer hearing loss for several months in that ear.
