Packages: no real retail value before shipping
Okay, this one is a wee bit unusual. Post what you have in the way of seeds or seedlings to swap. Packages can and should be very small (most extra seeds are wasted or over planted. 5 to 10 seeds is fine. After all, we're not trying to plant each other's entire garden.) Postage shouldn't exceed 35 cents unless you have a cutting that you're sending.
Please post as much as you know about your seed. For example:
Package 1
GOLD MINE carrots--HYBRID
needs sun, lighter soil, good water
a sweet variety that's a good producer
10 seeds
Package 2
AMISH PASTE tomatoes--HEIRLOOM, organic
"Many seeds savers believe this is the ultimate paste tomato. Giant, blocky Roma-type tomatoes have delicious red flesh that is perfect for paste and canning. World class flavor and comes from an Amish community in Wisconsin."
5 seeds
Package 3
BRANDYWINE tomato--HEIRLOOM, organic
enormous fruits, big flavor, 1880's heirloom
needs sun, well drained, moist soil
5 seeds
Package 4
CARANTAN leek--HEIRLOOM, organic
transplant in late spring, start indoors
stalks need to be blanched
10 seeds
Then, to encourage others

post a wish list:
Hoping someone has:
- seed potatoes of any variety
- watermelon--prefer organic, but seedless hybrid okay
- squash, but not zuchini (my neighbor grows that and feeds us all)
- butter leaf lettuce
Some of these should really be planted now for transplanting at Memorial Day, so let's do a quick easy swap even if it's lightly attended. We'll post through Wednesday, send me your choices Thursday and Friday. I'll post matches Friday evening and we can mail on Saturday.
We can always do a second swap if that goes well with the seeds that need to be direct sown anyway (although I plan to list all my packages now).
The examples above are my start. I'll add more later. I have ::cough:: something like 20 packages of heirloom seeds that I can contribute.
