What time does your 13 yr old go to bed?

We (13 yr old, dh and I) decided that 9:30pm was a reasonable time for him to go to bed.

He fights me EVERY....SINGLE.....NIGHT!!! I'm so sick of it. This is the time HE decided on for God's sake!

Now he's saying he wants 9:45pm since he's "older"!

So, I'm curious what time your 13 yr old goes to bed? And does he/she fight you on it nightly?

Supposed to be nine, but lately it is totally flexible, and ten isn't uncommon at all. But we homeschool, and early rising issues aren't a problem here. A bedtime is more for my own sanity now...the kids do just fine going to bed later, lol.

on school nights ds goes into his room at 9pm...but he can read until we go to bed and tell him to turn the lights out. He needs the relaxation to fall asleep...so once 9pm hits, no tv or computer unless he is still doing homework for some reason.

on the weekends, the skies the limit or when I get tired enough to go to bed and make him do so as well.

Brooke is 12 and goes to bed by 9. Sounds more like its about the control than the time.

See, I think that's fantastic, but not an option for us. Both of my boys go to public school.

I, too, think it's about control. We moved his bedtime to 10pm and he seems a lot happier and a lot more willing to go to bed at that time.

In bed by 9:00 and lights out by 10:00. If we didn't follow this rule they would be exhausted.
