We did the most simplified/thrifty thing we could do, we sold our home and moved in with my parents. We have been here since July, and been able to pay off all of our debt and now saving for our next house which will be one with an in-law apt for my parents, so many people we know are doing this now. We are still super thrifty, even with out a lot of bills. We pay for groceries, and for any overages on utility bills, plus DH does all the outside yard work, and I do as much as I can inside.

Once we move, my parents will pay us monthly rent which will help with the mortgage. We get along so this set up works for us.

In the mean time I am getting knitting work here and there, and I started a craft with kids website which will lead to some income there too.

Once we are done expanding our family, my goal is to do a holistic daycare out of our home.

I am enjoying reading everyone's ideas.

We are pretty much just living on as little as possible, as we're unemployed and living with my parents. There's a good chance, though, that I'll be going back to work full time very soon. That will change a lot for us, but we'll probably still be poor unless we decide to stay living with my parents for awhile. Even if we stay living with them, we figure we should be actually paying them some money (we contribute to groceries, but that's it).

Anyway, so we're trying to minimize buying except for essentials. And trying to be realistic about what those essentials are.

I have been in the decluttering mode too. I have given soo much stuff away and taken a lot to goodwill (and itemized the receipt, because every year the tax lady gets on me for donating stuff and not getting an itemized receipt).

I am also repainting a lot of stuff and fixing odds and ends, because because we are planning to sell the house next year and move closer to DH's work and possibly getting a bigger house, if Grandma (dh's grandmother who 84 and is alone) is willing to move in with us so we can take care of her.

I upped my hrs at the Y again compared to the summer hrs I had. That helps a lot, it takes care of all the groceries, even if we have a higher $$ need for groceries right now.
