Even though it might not be what you want to give them, what about small ($10) gift card to a video store like Hastings/Blockbuster or whatever local one they have. I know locally we have a place where you can 'rent' an hour of video game play on a big screen TV with any of the hip new stations for $3 an hour--and they do gift cards.

This is a great thread/idea! I am in, I was thinking of knitting a bunch of these fingerless mitten/gloves for gifts, as well as a sweater for DH, and DS....
For sewing I was going to do placemat sets, and coasters.....I am still coming up with other ideas...

I guess my first step is to figure out who we'll be buying for.

Kids don't get presents from us - and one big gift from Santa - so I need to figure out what they want. Ohhhh man - this is going to add up fast.

A - no clue
M - wants Mia
S - wants a nintendo DS in pink
J - wants a drum set
P - wants an american girl just like you doll
JB - I'm thinking maybe a big bed

Present for grandparents and Great Grandma

And something handmade for Godparents, Aunts (maybe uncles)

:)

Our gift buying is well under way.

The boys big gifts are full sized skate boards and they have already been bought. Gwenny will be getting the next size 2 wheeled bike but we will wait for Christmas sales to get that.

Dh has 41 employees to buy for. We usually give them small token gifts (I have made small kleenex holders, and lip balms in the past). This year I bught all the women he supervises avons scented anti bacterial hand gels (they retail for $3.29 but were on sale for 99 cents). Dh is a principal for a school for children with multiple disabilities so hand sanitizer is a gift that will definitely be used and since it is smelly and not your basic purell it will be appreciated.

The support staff at the boys school are also done. They are each getting on the the hand sanitizers above and a matching pocket body or hand lotion to go with it wrapped in a little organza bag with a thank you type holiday card.

I bought most of my neice and nephews gifts a couple months ago at the Chidldren's place outlet so they are done other than the pj's I always make them to wear on Christmas Eve.

We basically have my parents to buy for, dh's secretary, the kids teachers (above gifts I mentioned are for para pros, specials teachers, etc...). Our neighbors and friends always get homemade candy and this year homemade bread so I obviously can't do that early.

I would like to get dh and electric EO diffuser but don't have a clue what brand is good or where to purchase one.

Forgot to add that I also need to make a small nativity quilt for our closest neighbors who have become our adoptive parents, my kids night before Christmas pj's, and a gift for a couple of my girlfriends.

We've decided to do handprint quilts like these Amazon.com: Calendar Kids: Handprint Quilts Through the Year: Marcia L. Layton: Books
for grandparents this year. I buckled down and got the first 4 months done for the 3 quilts yesterday. Mixing a one year old, a four year old and a lot of paint went much better than I'd dreaded. I think the quilts are going to go great
