We live on soup in the winter months. I love to make soup and my family loves to eat the soup I make. When I was cooking for the farm staff I made soups often too and they loved it. It is easy to make according to my many dietary restrictions and still be full of flavor and nutrition.
Like Linda, I can't compare the UK to the US. Everything is so expensive here and food is no exception. Luckily being farmers with farmer friends we can get good seasonal fruit and veg on trade or at a very low cost and same with meat. We have more eggs than we know what to do with now that the hens have started laying. (There are more than a thousand of those little ladies!) When we get a freezer I will start making quiches and freezing them I think.
