I resolved not to go to walmart.

That was my new year's resolution. I'm pleased to report that I haven't stepped foot inside of a Walmart since before the new year.

As a matter of fact, I even dread driving though their parking lot. Going through their lot is the short-cut to my favorite gas station....so I take the long cut now. lol.

Anyway. Budget wise, it didn't break the bank. I pay attn to sales at the grocery store. I've been buying meat and cheeses at the farmer's market. The meat is actually less expensive and I'm less liberal with cheese. Which isn't a bad thing.

It's such a hard thing, knowing how much I'll save by shopping there versus the regular grocery store. I only go about 4 times a year, but I still feel guilty doing so.

Now, Sam's That's one I have a hard time giving up and we don't have a Costco.

But, good for you

I've been proudly Walmart free for about 3 years now. You can do it! By planning better and shopping sales, I'm not spending more than we were before. But we've also cut down on certain things, like cheese. LOL.

Oh my goodness look at how big smoochie is! With pigtails no less. gads she's cute.

Interestingly, the final nail was embroidery floss. Walmart quit carrying it. So I actually had to plan to have a particular color on hand before I set about hand sewing at o-dark-thirty.

Go figure.

Now, the sealed deal is the whole highly processed, poorly made, blah blah blah thing. It's just easy not to go now.

Thanks! She's funny. She brings me the water bottle and comb so I can do her hair. I think I've created a monster. I love your sig picture. That is a wonderful photo.

I totally understand your frustration about Walmart. It wasn't my original resolution, but I think I can do it this year with the exception of one time when I visit my parents in MO. I haven't been in yet this year, but that is more of a fluke than a choice. Thank you for the inspiration.

Good for you! We rarely go - maybe 1x/year. There's no Walmart near us that carries food or even er, ANY Walmart near us. We end up getting things there that we simply can't find anywhere else. If only we had a Target. In the past year I've bought a computer desk (they were the only place w/the right size one for our small space), some fabric bins for clothes (see IKEA or Target would have filled both of those needs nicely) and um...that's about it.

It was mine too. It's been hard. I use disposables part time. That hurt the most. It's been good not to have the junk from there. It was also somewhere I went without kids occasionally on a weeknight and I miss the time.

That is great. I stopped going to Walmart last year. I think I went there once to buy stuff to help out the food pantry because truly I could get so much more for my money there and the food pantry was really low after they got 100 new families in less than 6 months.

I am not totally against Walmart, I do think that it serves a purpose.

Good for you!

I find it much easier to not shop there now that they don't carry embroidery floss. Seriously.

ha! just read the replies and see that it was the final straw for you too LOL!

I could justify floss. But anything else isn't a *need*.
