Best $10 I've spent...

...Just to one up Val.

Seriously though. We have a good 1/2" gap between our back door & the threshold. There is a storm door on the outside too, however you can see light under it. I've always had a "draft stopper" there to take care of this, but I picked up a proper door sweep at Lowes, it took <5 mins to install & it makes a world of difference. Comparing the before & after, there was literally a breeze coming through that the "draft stopper" did not stop. I'm going to be very interested to see what kind of difference this will make to our gas bill. Surely $10 worth.

Oh and I love this forum, sorry I don't post much.

Cool! I need one of these for our basement door, seriously. Our basement is 32* if that. I have clothes stuffed under the crack right now. The door opens into our bedroom!

I installed one of those on our basement door after our first winter in our old house. What a difference! Before I installed it, we couldn't walk down that hallway without freezing. I also did the foam tape stuff all around the edges (it was an interior door leading to an unfinished basement). It really helped a ton with our comfort, and undoubtedly the heating bill as well, since the thermostat was in the hall across from the basement door.

I needed to do that the ENTIRE time we lived at my grandmas house (like over 3 years)... I never did... but in that house it was sort of a lost cause to try to save on gas... lol... I think it would have helped a little bit though. At least enough to make it so we didn't have to wear slippers to bed.

I need one for our door. Only it's the AC not the gas for us.
