Thanks! Remember it is written by someone for whom English is obviously a second language. I do not think the message was that the person in the fable literally turned away from God. Rather, read in the context of the story, the person found God within himself and thus had no need to "meet God." KWIM? Don't take it too literally.

Yeah, that's kinda what I was thinking too - it just made me do a doubletake at that point.
