Earthships...wow.
I'm watching Forecast Earth. I never watch tv - it's for dh. I mean, I'll watch a movie or some stand-up comedy late at night randomly, but mostly I don't have time. I'm stuck in bed today w/shingles and a cold virus. Anyway, the show had a segment on Earthships. I had read about them before but seeing them and the interiors and how they are self-sufficient is really cool. They catch all the water on the roof, filter it for drinking and bathing, run it under the plants for hydration, then to the toilet for flushing, then out to the yard to a septic tank and then a bio-something area (basically plants instead of a leachfield). Wow...
I was just awed...he built so much recycling and earth friendliness right into the structure, it's amazing.

The were on a show on the Science channel the other day as well. Both dh and I thought they were pretty cool. We both liked the inside, but neither of us cared too much for the outside (a little too "modern" for our style, lol).
There were a couple other really cool enviro friendly houses on the show we watched too. Gave us a lot of ideas!
