what paint to use to paint dining chairs?

we have white kitchen chairs. the white is driving me nuts because i am constantly wiping it (because it shows everything) so, finally tired of wiping for 4 months, i announced this evening that the girls were going to be allowed to paint their own chairs whatever colour(s) they want. now i need to get some paint (preferably from the oops bin), what kind do i need to use on heavily used indoor, wooden chairs? i dont want to get any spray paint (because im dealing with a 5.5 year old and an almost 3 year old) but i have a house full of acrylic paints already - can those be used at all?
