I really need to get back into the swing of saving

Dh changes jobs on the 13th at a pay cut. We have re-financed the house, sold the green van. But with the money from the van, we have bought dd a truck, paid the insurance for the truck and dd, got her permit and enrolled her in driving class. I am back to work for a bit (not sure how long I will be working), it is 15 hours a week, but in order to do this I have to pay a babysitter for at least 1 day, so a bit of that money goes to a sitter, which is dd until school starts.
I so want to go shopping, I fight myself everyday with it. When I go to the grocery store, I end up putting things in the cart that we don't need, I put most of them back, but still end up with a few things that we didn't need. I am going to try to stay away from the store for the next few weeks, which will be hard because I have to go right by them to get to work.
I am needing to save money so that we don't freak during the next two years. It will be lean but I think we can do it. I hope I can do it.
Just need some encouragement.

I need to stay very thrifty right now too.

Can you go garage saling to satisfy the shopping urge? Take $10 and go garage saling...you'd be amazed what you can get, and just two crappy little things you don't need at the store would cost $10, yk?

For the grocery store, be ruthless. Make a list before you go, and resolve not to buy one thing that is not on the list.
