Why is it that with a pantry and freezer full of food
that it seems like there is nothing to eat?
I swear, my pantry and freezer are full, but I keep wanting to go to the grocery store to buy something. I go into the pantry to figure out what we want for dinner, it is worse when dh is on night shift, and can't see for all the food. None of the food that we have looks good, but I know that we need to eat it. So why do I want to keep buying food when we have food to eat?
well, I'm doing the same thing & I *think* I know why. I'm guessing its cause I have spending withdrawals real bad. I want to shop, but I dont have $. But I dont have to feel guilty if I buy groceries, cause food is a need. And then I get to put it all away & organize it. And when I look in the pantry it is FULL. If you look in my pantry we look RICH. We have plenty. We can't be doing too terribly bad if our pantry is overflowing!
So, that is my self-analysis on why *I* am buying so many groceries. maybe your reason might be similar? or not. lol
Maybe you can plan you meals out. At least 1 week ahead of time The whole month would be even better. Then that way you know what to pull on what days. You can cook nice meals for when hubby is home and easier meals for just you and the kids. Let the kids help pick out meals too. I'm not sure how old you kids are they can even have a dinner night where they cook too. You could just to weekly shopping for fresh fruit and vegs and milk and such. Have fun with you meals. You could always go to the library and get cook books to help jump start some ideas.
I have lots of food too. But I buy things when they are on sale and then just load up. We will do eggs and toast or cereal on lazy nights.
Your body feels so much better when you get the right food going in.

I am a food horder too. I am slowly working away from this. How I have worked it out so far is a list of meals we "could" have that week with mostly stuff we have on hand, and then a list of things I need to get. That way I am using what is there, but have a little of that "restocking" thing too.
This week we have the stuff for pasta salad, tomato soup with shell noodles, split pea soup, chicken fajitas, potato cassarole, and tons of greens for salad. With that I am buying a green pepper, two onions (more if they are on sale), milk, cheese, a cucumber for the salads, bacon for the split pea, and a few other produce items for snacks, like apples etc. That is it for this week. But I still have meals and I still get to go shopping.
The best way to start is to stick with parishables. Just stay in the produce isles until the things you are getting make you laugh.

And to make it worse then I NEVER feel like cooking and we end up eating out...
Well I know where you could donate that food
I am feeding an army here!
But I agree, go to the store , spend $$$$$ and then stand looking into the fridge and say there is nothing to eat!
