What kind of things do you list on ebay?

Is it worth it? Do you sell in lots? Is it worth it to list kids clothes, vhs tapes, etc...

TIA

I go in spurts but sell quite a bit on ebay. I always keep my eye open in the thrift stores for things I know I can resell. We also do very well with books (1st ed, OOP, homeschooling, etc.).

We just recently had a bunch of auctions close for $160+, most of that was dh's items...music CD's, investing books, DVDs. We spent a couple of hours listing those items so that's a fair return. I also try to factor in fees for both ebay and paypal.

Yesterday, I cleaned out several drawers in my craft area and listed lots of rubber stamps, magazines, paper, ink pads and such on ebay. It took me ALL day. Seriously, 10 am - 10 pm. The items listed for a base of $230 but I fully expect to make over $300+.

To some people a full days work might not be worth it, but to me it is. I'm decluttering and making some extra cash to boot.

Now, honestly, I spend a lot of time going over things, listing every little detail, taking photos. I could probably cut my time on that, but I'm a perfectionist.

I primarily list in lots unless it's something I know will do well solo. Also, it's better for the fees and shipping time to do lots. I have a huge lot of Somerset magazines up right now that would probably do better separated into smaller lots but by the time I was listing them I was pooped and just threw it up as a biggie.

The only thing I won't list on ebay is clothes. I've never made a good profit on clothes...I'd rather donate them.

ETA: forgot the biggie...Fabric. Fabric does really well for me on ebay, but I primarily list HTF items like munki.

I never seem to make much on ebay anymore. Although, I admit, I'm feeling more tempted by the posts around here lately (people making hundreds in a week).

I have some things set aside (diaper bags, a digi cam, some strollers) that I COULD sell - but - I don't know if they'd do well and I hate when my auctions close low. The people making money on ebay seem to be the ones who have stores on there - lots listed, for long periods of time.

I am really fond of the item-specific yahoogroups (ie. gymboree, janie and jack, stroller swap, etc.) because they're free. VHS stuff usually isn't terribly valuable, clothing does pretty well on here if you list in lots.
