Talking Productive weekend

We've had such a productive weekend after a nasty week medically and emotionally.

We were going to participate in a block sale Saturday morning but something came up late Friday with an extended family member. Instead we woke a bit late and went to yard sales.

We need a fridge and a range for the house we're renting. We came across a yard sale with a 4 month old energy star fridge AND in the color I want for $350. The man had left the military and then returned and had no use for it (fridges are included in base housing). We had anticipated spending $700-800 on a fridge during labor day sales.

Later I took a look at Craig's List and came across a four-year-old stove for $90. That's about $210 or more that we saved off of what we anticipated during labor day sales. It's the exact stove we planned to buy new.

We came home and packed up all of the things we'd planned to get rid of at the yard sale and then dropped them off at a charity organization. It was literally ~400 lbs worth of books, lawn mowers (two), stroller, clothes, etc. So much junk.

We packed up about 3/4 of our garage and cleaned up and organized other areas (pc room, kids art/hsing area). I cleaned out the filing cabinent and old file boxes and have around 50 POUNDS of paper that need shredded. Yes, you are reading that correctly. The bags weigh more than dd.

That was all on Saturday.

Today I've cleaned more, taken care of the lawn, organized the kids dresser and gone through winter clothes to get rid of duplicates and see what's needed.

what great deals you found!!! WTG!!!

We had an extremely busy weekend. Sat was filled with boy scouts activities and ds1's first football game of the season.

Sun we spent the first part of the day with some friends celebrating the end of summer/beginning of the school year for our children. The older boys (and the men) played D&D and the littles and us ladies went swimming. It always replenishes my soul to spend time with them.

We then came home and finished getting school supplies together for ds1's 1st day of school. ds2 started two weeks ago.

Then my mom and her boyfriend came over for dinner.

It was a great weekend.

Wow! Great deals, and *lots* accomplished! It doesn't get any better than that!

Unfortunately I spent Saturday with a sick boy - his tooth is abscessed. Went to the ER to get meds Saturday night. Sunday we cleaned the house and packed for school - a major ordeal with my little guy (two bagsful of stuff go with him to school!).

I moved the kid's dressers and clothes so everyone's stuff is where they sleep now. Which means my room is now free of Noah's clothes. Wow. I can walk into my room without having to pick my way around Noah's dresser. We really didn't have the space for it all this time.

And today I hung the mirror in the bathroom that we took down when we painted a year ago! I'm ashamed it took me so long (mainly just because of needing to pick up the little parts I needed), but it's now up again and one more thing off the floor.

And today we started on painting our fence. So I have done quite a bit. The fence is going to be a project for a while because it's exhausting and big and intricate. I did two panels today and will try to do one more each day. That way it should only take about a week.

I'm trying to decide if I should build our garden for next year in the fall (soon)or in the spring. If I happen to find the energy, I might start on it when school starts.

Wow, Bobbi Jo! That is awesome!
Today:
I made a big ol' batch of pumpkin muffins so we can freeze some for snacks and lunches when school starts next week.

I cooked myself a real meal for lunch (East Indian Style Garbanzos with rice cooked with fennel and cumin seed).

I started typing a schedule for my family into excel. I have evenings and mornings plugged in. I haven't figured out how I want to work everything during the day, but we'll need to ease into this anyway, so we've got a place to start for now.

I placed an order with Amazon for some GF/CF goodies for snacks for the boys for school. I figured out I could use the $10 off coupon that's good until the 31st with every $50 order, so that saved me some $$.

I feel like I've gotten quite a bit done around here lately, too. But then, I've got hormones on my side. My only problem is it's now late afternoon, I need a nap, and I have no idea what to make for dinner.

Sorry, I don't know why I thought Bobbi Jo was the OP. I tried to edit earlier, but it apparently didn't take...
