Here are my goals and to-do list for the upcoming week:
~cut and organize coupons from Sunday paper and incorporate into my binder.DONE
~make menu plan for this week (using as much from our freezer and pantry as possible); DONE
~stay on top of housework (particularly the laundry!) DONE!
~get remaining items for this week at the grocery store. DONE-spent about $120
~clean our house....clean house helps keep me "on track" and prevents me from going out to eat just to get out! LOL!
~clean all 3 bathrooms
~mop kitchen floor DONE
~vacuum DONE
~dust
~strip and wash all sheets DONE
~no eating out
~fill van, car, and our gas can (for lawnmower, etc) with gas today (even though they each have between 1/2 and 1/3 of a tank left)....gas dropped to $2.67 today locally, so we're going to fill up in case pending hurricanes in the Gulf affect gas prices next week. DONE
~limit travel/gas usage as much as possible (the kids do have activities on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday of this week though).Wow...We did really well at this for this week....even counting a few things I have to do tomorrow, we will have traveled under 150 miles this week (1/2 tank of gas)....which when you take into consideration that it's a 20 mile trip (roundtrip) to the nearest town/shopping, that's pretty good....we stayed home on Monday and Friday of this week--no miles. On Tuesday and Wed, my kids had activities which were a little bit of a hike from home, so that's where most of our miles came from!).
~recycle bag of empty ink cartridges
~call to inquire about Angel Food ministry at local church for September.DONE
~return library books (wasn't able to renew a few online and I don't want to incur late fees if I don't return them by the 30th!)DONE
~finish lesson plans for the upcoming school week. DONE
~make muffins for dh (Sunday night) DONE
~make homemade granola bars (probably on Thursday);
~make homemade pumpkin bread for dh (probably on Monday) DONE
~make homemade yogurt DONE
~clean out linen closet and get rid of extra items. DONE-got rid of one large bag of items
~continue decluttering....at least one grocery size bag each day!
~cleaned off the top of the refrigerator on Monday, plus 2 cabinets of kitchen "gadgets"....got rid of a lot! DONE
~took 1 large bag to the thrift store, plus passed two smaller bags onto friends for their children. DONE
~work on my mom's resume for her (her store is going out of business and she'll be looking for a new job in October).DONE
~list items FSOT...I have homeschooling stuff, kitchen stuff, dance shoes, etc. done!

Thanks for doing this Jenn. It really keeps me accountable, and it feel so good to come back and edit and realize I *did* achieve my goals for the week!
It's back to school this week, combined with probable emergency dental surgery for my son, whose tooth is abscessed. FUN! GREAT TIMING! So I am having to scale back plans for what will get done.

*cut, bag and freeze chicken breasts for lunches for him for this week *DONE*
*catch up on laundry so it isn't a stress during the week *DONE*
rest of week:
*use library for uploading stuff to blog to save time at home *didn't happen, laptop broke and medical crisis*
*assess our fall/winter wardrobes and plan to sew (from the ridiculous fabric stash I still have!) the rest of the items we'll need*see above*
*drive as little as possible, consolidate trips*DID IT!*
*bake and freeze muffins *DONE!*
*gather elderberries *DONE!*

It helps to hold me accountable also and gives me a sense of accomplishment when I can go back and edit to realize how much I actually got done!
Hope your son's abcessed tooth can be taken care of easily (and painlessly) as possible!

I did end up running to the ped on Tuesday (60 mi round trip) and to the pediatric dentist on Wednesday (190 mi round trip). And Jake was home on Wednesday and went to school for part of the day on Thursday. I spent almost all my time dealing with his tooth and school adjustment (he wasn't feeling good so the first two days of school didn't go too well).
He is now on antibiotics (I hate it) and feeling so much better. He has surgery next Friday the 8th...there goes the birthday party on the 9th. We'll make it the 16th - three weeks late but what can you do. He has to have the tooth pulled and a space maintainer put in, plus a bunch of other cavities filled and a stainless steel crown on one molar. Whew. His teeth have always been great but in the past eight months they have suddenly developed fast-moving decay.
Anyway I'm proud of what we accomplished even with the medical trips. The only thing is we ate out twice - had to, both trips were without advance notice. Being really organized about the start of the school year made things go really smoothly despite the crisis. It felt good to know lunches and snacks were taken care of, backpacks were in a certain spot, and things were basically ready to go - no major chores had to be done during the week. I even made yogurt in the middle of all this.
Of course my kids have been home all day today (they are off through Monday) and my house is a complete wreck and the dishes are behind. We did get a lot of wood chopped and I made a triple batch of banana muffins, mini muffins, and bread, and I destemmed and washed a few quarts' worth of elderberries. We are heading out to canoe in the lake today; it's nice and warm and going to rain the next couple of days. On the way home I will stop at the general store for pectin, jars for canning, and a couple of other supplies, and settle in for a rainy weekend of canning, sewing, and baking. And cleaning!
