We hit our frist financial goal...

Now I have to admit to not reading Dave Ramsey's book as I am too cheap to buy it, and my library copy has been out for a year... but I have hit the first goal on the web site I read, and that was build a savings of $1000. Right? We have just passed $1000. Woohooooo!

What is the next goal? Perhaps I will just do it one goal at a time.

Oh and we reached another goal this month too... we have put ONE thing on credit this month. ONE! (It was the $60 for an entire computer upgrade... really was needed and worth it...) Talk about an improvment... not to mention that I have been cooking everynight, and lots of other good 'feeling normal again' stuff! YAY for me! I may actually be in the second trimester now (at 18wks.... lol!!)

Yeah for you is right! We've only got $200 in our savings so far. But we're eliminating debt pretty well and not putting more stuff on credit. So we'll get there. That's awesome, though. And I've also not read any of his books, which I really should do. I think I'll order one from the library. Thanks for reminding me.

Great job on the savings!

Step#2 is the debt snowball.

We are $300 into our $1000... it is hard when you live paycheck to paycheck..

I agree... we live paycheck to paycheck as well. What we did was we took the last bit of the inheritance we got and put it all in savings and then added to that. When we had something to build onto it went faster. I know not everyone can do that, but it really helped with our motivation to save.

Thanks for the cudos ladies. I am pretty happy. The debt snowball will start when Don gets into academy (that $400 a month will be going pretty much directly to debt until we have a couple things paid off, right now we are putting $30 into savings per month because that is what we can afford). With us we just have enough to get buy and get a few extra things for the baby every month and that comes first, although there is one debt we are paying off before Jan becuase that is when the intrest comes due. So we are still sort of doing it... just not the same way he talks about. YK? Gotta work within your own scheme.
