This is me too! I find I spent cash easier/quicker if I carry cash- at least using my debit card I have to keep track of what I am spending.
OT a bit, but a funny thing along the note of change- I do have a basket/jar of change that I use to pay my boys at the end of everyday for the chores they have done through out the day. They are only four and "allowance" is a new thing at this stage and age they still need the someone instant reward. But when they go to a store to buy something I help them count out their change and then I have the clerk put it aside and I just pay for the item- that way I can just "recycle" their change and the poor clerk doesn't have to count out and put away all those pennies, dimes, and nickles. I take the change home and just reuse it to pay them the next week.
My dh and I dated for a year and a half and he saved all his change during that time in a large gallon jar. We counted it just before we got married and used it to buy his simple, and still wearing it after 7 years of marriage, wedding band.

I keep a change jar that I put all my coins and dollar bills in. The kids' allowance comes out of the change jar, and at the end of every month, I roll up what I can (i.e. what will make a full roll) and deposit it into savings.

Our bank has a change machine so I'll be taking the entire jar in there at the beginning of October and then depositing it into our savings account. We usually take the jar with us to yard sales though.
We have a debit card through our bank, every time we spend money, it rounds it up and puts it into a savings account.
The first three months of the account (we're almost at the end of our 3mo) they will match all funds you have put into your savings, after that they give you 5%.
I already have 120. from change, and we have until the 20th (give or take a day, can't remember exactly) to finish adding to that, and then they'll double it.
That money is going into our savings account.
The change we save is going to be cashed in at the end of this month, and we're using it towards Lucas' baptism.
We have put it off so long (he'll be 2 on the 18th!) thinking dh's mom might get to come, but I don't think she'll ever get a visa.
