An inspirational website:

www.pathtofreedom.com

These people have planted their yard with edibles. There is no grass. They also keep chickens and ducks. They live in Pasedena California on only 1/5 acre lot. They sell much of what they grow and eat a lot of it too. It's a really great website!

I am good friends with the family that owns pathtofreedom.com and they really are amazing. It is in a densely populated area of the city, but when you sit in their backyard you feel like you are out in the country. They are amazing people to know.

Part of my yard is a garden too!

I figure it's less to mow and we get home grown food for cheap plus it keeps me and the children busy!

We can't have chickens but I wish we could. It's against the city code.

I live on 1/2 acre in FL. Most of our yard is planted with native trees/shrubs so we don't have to water a lot (or at all).

Thanks for posting this! We will have to take a little trip out there sometime soon! I LOVE when people use so much of their land for food (seeing edibles growing in other's front yards excites me! LOL)& when we move into our new home next week we plan to get started doing them same right away!
