Last time, I promise. Decorating Opinions please.

So, I went window shopping today at Pottery Barn. Do you think I can Copy the look in these rooms Cheaply?

Living Room:

Dining Room:

I think these styles would go nicely with the pale yellow walls in my house. What do you think?

for both links i get a bedroom, looks like the front of the catalog cover.

overall -->yes i think you can reasonably cheaply copy pottery barn,. They do it all the time on televsion -- the moms in my mom group are ALWAYS talking about some home deco show or the other on cable. (i don't get cable so i have no idea what channel even).

The key thing to do is to not get super hung up in it has to be a perfect match. Think of the big pieces -- in the bedroom for instance. I could make the comforter, I have a nightstand that is now unfinished, I could paint it white. I'd do silver lamps I'd look for at tjmax or marshalls or kohls.

I got a blue bedroom too for both links. Pottery Barn can be copied pretty cheaply I think. One idea is to E-Bay for Pottery Barn things. Target has a Restore and Restyle line that is very similar to Pottery Barns IMO. I shop there when I need a Pottery Barn looking item. Also, garage sale!!! I find lots of things at garage sales. All you need is good lines on a piece, give it a coat of white paint (or black, green, yellow whatever) and you have a new piece of furniture (always use satin or flat colors to get that cottage look). My whole house is decorated with garage sale items. You didn't ask for specifics on anything, so I can't help you with details. Good luck!

I got the same blue bedroom.

I second paint. We find a lot of interesting, well made, but(t) ugly wood furniture and paint it. There are some really nice peices avalible at resale shops, garage sales & flea markets that look wonderful with a nice coat of paint.

We've also had great luck getting material in the design we like & making it into curtains, pillow covers, bead spreads. Buying that sort of stuff is so expensive. Even a non-sewer like me can make a straight line on my mom's machine & have a nice bed cover.

Have fun. I love decorating. I keep joking that I need a bigger house since I've already done all 4 rooms here.
