I was induced at 37 weeks b/c of increasing edema and high blood pressure. My cervix was still long and closed, and after three days of being in the hospital, babies ok and vertex, I had an urgent Cp-section b/c I blew up like a balloon - no, like an elephant. It was awful - I had pitting edema in my thighs .
Both my babies had some excess fluid in their lungs and their apgar scores were 7/7, so they spent 5 days in the NICU "getting used to the world."

At my 37 wk appt, my dr admitted me to the hospital because I was a small 4 and had been having prodromal labor for at least a month, even though my contractions were still so light and irregular that they were no problem at all. That was a Monday. Wednesday I was induced, and after spending ALL DAY on pitocin Sara was born naturally (one push) at 8:33PM, and Rachel proceeded to prolapse her cord and was born by emergency section (general anesthesia because I'm needle-freak and did NOT start off w/ an epidural) at 8:49PM. Sara's Apgars were 9/9, Rachel's were 1/6. Rachel spent a few hours in NICU, and we all went home that Saturday.
It never did. My OB attempted induction, but after 12 hours there was absolutely no cervical change. Due to extenuating circumstances I agreed to the c-sec. They were born at 34 weeks gestation. I still think that if there hadn't have been the complications that they would have gone the distance and been 8lbs each at 40 weeks.
I begged for induction at 36 weeks, LOL I was in soo much pain. of course they said no way. I had been walking around for 2 weeks at 3 and 80%. At 37 weeks I agred to an amnio (only way they would induce) and it was good so I scheduled the induction at 37.3 weeks I went in to be induced. My water was broke at 9am and the girls were delivered vag unmedicated at 1:19, and 1:21 I was ripe for the pickin so to speak. Ally, baby A was vertex, Abby was crosswise. Funny my twin birth was my fastest and easiest with the least complications by far.
I will say that the first time I stood after having them it literally felt like my insides fell down. It was an incredibly weird and uncomfortable feeling

At 38 weeks & 2 days I went to bed just after mid-night. Just as I layed down I felt what I thought was a strong chest pain & thought I was having an asthma attack. I sat up & I felt better. Then it happened again, but not as strongly & I knew it was labour getting started. I was not in "active" labour till my water broke around 3am. We arrived at the hospital around 4am where we met the mid-wives & OB. The twins were born vaginally, no meds, no episiotomy, etc. just after 6 am. Baby A was vertex and 5lb, 13oz and 3 mins later I birthed Baby B footling breech & looking up with one of her arms over her head and she was was 7lbs, 15oz.
You are getting closer!! Remember that each day inside they are getting bigger and healthier and better at breathing & therefore better prepared for life outside your uterus!!
My babies & I went home the same day they were born.
