Hi there! I garden here in Tampa, but I am no pro! I usually do tomatoes (grape, cherry and beefsteak), cucumbers, lettuce, green beans, melons, strawberries (they always die! lol), peppers and herbs. You can try looking up the Hillborough county extention service (or whatever county you are in!). I do fertilize

since this is a sandy soil. I usually prep the area in stages. #1: Til the area using a shovel (mix up the existing soil). #2: I then lay a layer of newspaper 3 sheets thick (This will keep weeds out for awhile naturally). #3: apply manure evenly in a thin coat #4: I then apply 3 inches of topsoil. The area I use erodes quickly which is why I have to keep repeating the same steps! I will use fertilizer if my veggies are looking malnurished. I will admit I have never tested pH levels or done any of the pro-gardener stuff! I just took some tips off of an experience elderly neighbor who's veggies would have you thinking the store veggies were dwarfs and bland! HTH!
