Haha! I think I beat um...

The other day I discovered that I have a mole living in my garden. I pushed the mole hill down and then the next morning it was back... it was obviously a fav outing hole of that paticular mole... well I thought about what the article on caster oil said about chasing away moles and how they do not like strong smelling herbs etc.... and so I crushed (with the paper on to retain smell) 5 cloves of fresh garlic, dug out the main hole in that mound, and dropped them into the hole. And the mole has not come back... YAY! (It has been 4 days now... I will let you know if he does come back...)

I wonder how gophers feel about garlic... I can tell you that red ants don't care for cinnamon!!!

Good to know! I will make sure to try that if I ever get red ants... still not back... I did it with the mole hole that came up in my poppies too and he has left that one as well. I wonder if it will work for the whole summer or if I will have to redo it a few times?

Edited to say that if the Garlic does not work try caster oil for the gophers... that is what I was going to use and this was just a quick fix so he did not eat my starts, but it has worked for a week now...

Ok my mole is back... but I am going to do it again... I think if I keep on top of it then I will be able to make it go away compleatly. It did not come out of the same hole... but made two new ones behind my rosemary about 15 ft away. Ugh.... I will keep you all posted... I want to know if this works. I think I will try the minced jared garlic from the store next time. Its easier and I can apply it more often. Humm... (can you see the wheels turning??)
