Question Question about entering menopause

For those of you who have already entered, or are entering, menopause what was it like when you very first started? Did your regular periods become irregular?

I'm 36 and early menopause doesn't run in my family, but my always regular periods have been strange the last couple of months. 2 months ago it was a week early and 1-2 days shorter than usual. This last period was 1.5-2 weeks late and has been much lighter than usual. I know I'm not pregnant because I had a blood test done thinking I was.

I know that 2 months of irregular periods doesn't necessarily mean early menopause, but I'd still like to know

Thanks!

I'm 44 and haven't started yet

but I recall that around 33 or so.....I had sort of menapausal symptoms for a few months (insomnia, hot flashes at night, heart palpatations, abdominal distress) I was sure it was pre menopausal.

I went to two drs. with the symptoms. I was miserable for a couple days a month! It was like clockwork. Each told me it was a form of PMS and that our bodies are not computers and go thru stages of hormonal fluctuations.

The episodes went away and never came back (knock on wood!)

I do know that our body rhythms can change and fluctuate due to our being human.

Periods DO change when you are entering menopause (hear say from my older friends who've gone thru it) Some people get really copious periods and others have light ones. Irregular periods can occur (spotting mid cycle and so on)

Oh what fun it will be! Sort of like adolescense in reverse.
