I quit shaving my legs about 2 months ago. A friend told me that it'll take a few months for the hair (dark and fairly soft) to fall out and for new hair to regrow that will be soft and not near as dark. The hair on top of my thighs is really light (you can't even really see it) but my calves, inner thighs and backs of my thighs are really dark. I am trying to move past what other people think about me and just do what makes me comfortable. But I get oncomfortable when other people comment on it. I just say, "I am testing a theory." Have any of you had an experience with this? Will the hair grow back in lighter eventually? Or am I gonna be looking like a man if I choose to be shave free? I really just wanna give up shaving altogether, DH is fine with it, but I'm curious as to whether or not it will change color at all?

I haven't shaved my legs in about a year (the running joke was that I only shaved my legs for weddings, LOL). My leg hair is really light, and I have noticed that it's gotten lighter.
DH sometimes makes jokes about it, but for the most part he's used to it. I tell him that I'll shave my legs when he shaves his.
My friends don't really comment on it, and so far no one in public has said anything to me. I wear skirts, cropped pants, swim suits, etc., and haven't gotten any weird looks or anything. I suppose if someone said something to me I'd probably make a snarky comment that my husband is fine with it, so I don't give a hoot what anyone else thinks.

wow... no offense, but it kinda grosses me out. Nothing personal, but I just couldn't do it. On top of that I am European, so I would really be the life of the party if I showed up unshaved. LMBO
Besides, I don't think my dh would like it much...LOL

you might want to give waxing a try. It really does make it so less hair grows back each time. And it takes several months for regrowth to really fill in. Regrowth is never stubbly.

when I was married I didnt shave. I got a variety of comments about it, from a non chalant "oh you dont shave" to flat out rude and hostile.
I did what I wanted, regardless of the world around me thinking I should do something different.
Now, I choose to shave because, well, because I am single first and foremost and someday I might want to have sex with someone who might not be into unshaved females.
Oh, how shallow that sounds huh? I am not impressed with American beauty standards.

RE: the belief that not shaving makes hair change texture - it doesn't make a difference to the way your hair grows. The only change is that the hair grows out with a sharp edge after shaving, and it grows in with a pointy end after waxing or after the hair has died and another has regrown.
I figured this out after years of hearing my mother tell me that if I shaved, my legs would get hairier - and then I realized that there is absolutely NO feedback mechanism active in hair cells - so how the heck is my hair growth going to change?

Our first family pic in AGES!! And it's already out of date. Oh well
I decided to do an experiment and stop shaving my legs 'as long as I can stand it' one winter..... that was in 1991, so I guess I'm probably a lifetime nonshaver. Most people don't really believe me til they get really close, I have fine light hair. I have never regretted it or even changed my mind a little. It's so nice not to have that in my life anymore! (but I do shave underarms...so I'm not all natural yet!)
I haven't shaved my legs for about 2 1/2 years now...I do use a trimmer on them occasionally 'cause otherwise the leg hair vs. jeans gets a little annoying. I haven't noticed any difference in texture since I gave up shaving (I was 2 months from birthing DS, couldn't see my legs, much less shave them! lol). I also forgo the razor entirely when DH is working away from home...so right about now, I'm a jungle-girl with crazy pit-hair (the razor awakens a day or two before he comes home though!).
