Any good recipes for homemade beatuy products?

Can anyone steer me in the right direction? My girls love, love, love to play "pretty stuff" and they love products with glitter, etc. I hate letting them play with the conventional products that you can find out there.

Do you think I could make the body glitter and lotions and lip balms myself? Does ayone have any recipes? I'd also be happy to hear of a few good sites that sell natural products like these.

Thanks!

Karen

Well, if you want to go the easy, not making it from scratch route, you can buy cosmetic glitter and unscented natural lotions and some fragrance oils or essential oils and mix them yourself. There are sites like soapmaking sites where you can find the glitter, natural colorants, etc. You can get unscented natural lotions at your local natural foods store.

Lip balms are pretty easy, you just want to decide on the type of wax to use. If you want flavoring, I'd suggest flavor oils (also from soapmaking sites) and colorant is just a hassle with lip balms and if they don't care, I would skip it.

This is a fun site and they have cool products, but they really have a nice database of "recipes" http://www.soapdelicatessen.com/soapmaking/toiletries/

Here are some of my favorite online suppliers. You could even make melt & pour soaps with glitter with the girls

And I have some candelilla wax if you need some, it's different because it's veggie based, no animal products. It's the wax I used when I made the balms for my biz.
