Do you highlight your own hair?

How does it work out? What do you use? Any hints? I am contemplating it since I can't seem to keep up w/ the cost of it done professionally.

I always do my color myself using this:

Loreal Couleur Experte (or for us "easy reader" types...Color Expert!)

I've read some not so good reviews of it but I've always had really great success and my hair guy even commented about how good it looked. It's the most expensive hair dye "kit" at Target but WAY cheaper than paying someone else to do it for me.

I use Color Expert too.

I don't use the mascara wand they enclose, though. I have better luck just using my gloved fingers - the wand makes bigger chunks than I like.

But it's simple to use, and my stylist is always surprised at how well it turns out.

I just used the same brand as previously posted and love the outcome.

Nope. I'll color my hair (single process) darker or redder, but if I want highlights, I pay someone else to do it.

Good luck! Want to see before and after. Maybe you'll inspire me.
