..........sigh.......... Trace found another sharpie. This time at my sister's new apartment. He wrote on the wall of course, with yellow highlighter to boot. I've tried Tilex, Clorox Bleach Pen, Lysol antiacterial kitchen spray, soap/water, Pine Sol and hairspray. The hairspray lightened an area in it, but that's it. Any help would be WONDERFUL otherwise i guess i'll be painting.

Maybe some Kilz to cover it? I don't have any idea what would remove it but the Kilz would cover it. When we lived in our townhouse, that's what they used to cover stains, etc before repainting. You can buy it at any hardware store.
UGH Whitley did this when we first moved into our house. Hers was on the kitchen bar (like countertop material) so I don't know if this would work for you or not... but the ONLY thing I found that worked was a combination of Borax and De-Solv-It. Probably totally toxic or something but it worked - it was red sharpie and there is no trace of it left. Good luck
What would I do without these? They do work on Sharpie...I've used them for it before.

Thanks for the suggestions. lol i've tried the Magic Erasers at home and they didn't work, but maybe the paint is different. I have some KILZ but don't you have to use paint after you use that?
UGH you'd think in today's day and age that SHARPIE would have come up wiht some sort of cover for it! lol
I teach microbiology. In lab we use Sharpies for writing on all our different supplies. What you want to use is "decolorizer." A 50/50 mixure of 100% acetone (found in nail polish remover) and 70% isopropyl alcohol. You can find both things in the make-up section of you local box store. That is where I buy them because decolorizer is one of our supplies that is used up quickest. That takes Sharpie out with no problems. Once you have it mixed up, just dip a napkin or paper towel in and use that to work on removing the Sharpie or any "permanent" marker. Good luck.

Someone told me once that they used (i'm not kidding) dry erase marker over the sharpie, and then dry erased both away. That somehow erasing the DE marker took up the sharpie too.
