WAY OT: Hooking up a dvd player to a TV/VCR combo? Also, where to get kids dvds?

So our tv is a tv/vcr combo, and when we try to play a dvd from our dvd player, the vcr anti-copying function makes it so that the picture color goes back and forth from dark to light. Does anyone know if it's possible to overcome this?

Also, where do you all buy your kids' dvds? I'm really looking primarily for Disney ones, to replace our vhs. Also, I'd be game if anyone has any for sale.

Thanks,
Hana

Have you tried calling the customer service number for the DVD manufacturer? They can be helpful when the configuration of machines you have, isn't covered in the manual.

Hope this helps!

Wink Ok, hope I can explain this...

We had a similar problem. We have an old tv with only an antenna input jack in the back. When we got our dvd player it came with a video/audio cable with white, yellow and red plugs on both sides.
Our vcr has an input port for this cable so we thought we could hook it up with the vcr, but it distorted the picture.
So we got a "RF modulator" from Walmart for about $20 and hooked it up to the TV with it.
Not sure if this would work for the tv/vcr combo too, might have to ask someone knowledgable about them.

Thanks, mamas. Denise, I don't know--the holes in the front that look right, lol. (They do have words and I'm sure Rose used them for a reason, but I don't know what it is. I may be getting back to you and your dh later!) I'm going to call Panasonic today, Margaret, and see what they say, since both machines are Panasonic. Monika, thanks for the modulator info; that might be what we need.
Thanks all,
Hana
