Tried and true sliver removal methods?

This sliver has to come out. I got half of it out a couple days ago, the rest was too deep, I guess. It is a metal sliver. It is starting to get really sore, and I think it must be getting infected, because it is starting to ooze when I try to squeeze the thing out.
I tried the Bag Balm overnight, and it seems to have brought it closer to the surface, but I cant get ahold of it. Tried digging at it w/a pin, but I am not very good at inflicting pain upon myself.
Somebody come get this thing out for me.

Epsom salt soaks. My DS had a splinter in his toenail for 5 months. He did it back in July. We went in for his checkup a few weeks later and the Dr. said if it isn't bothering him, leave it alone. Around New Year's Day, he began pulling at his foot. I showed my parents. They said to soak his foot in some water with epsom salt. After 20 minutes, the splinter was out of his toenail.
