Help! How can I get rid of fruit flies in my kitchen?!

In with the bananas I bought yesterday came about 10 bazillion fruit flies- they are all over my sink and fruit in the kitchen now. How can I get rid of them?! I tried smashing them one at a time, but there are so, so many of them it was useless. Thanks a bunch!

Just keep all your food in the fridge and they should die out in a couple days.

Can't remember for sure

but youcan take a teeny bowl or jar lid adn add honey and a little water to it and a drop of dish soap (I think that is how it goes)

Or else it is beer.
That was one trick I was going to remember so I could use it and now I can't remember. Try one of those mama lol.

We have them too! They are everywhere. Keeping the food in the fridge hasn't worked for us. Now they hang out at the front of the fridge where the ice/water dispenser is. Or on the sink. I threw away all the sponges. Some even migrated to the bathroom.
We actually tried using fly paper and it might work if we had some sticky enough. I just made some using yellow paper and tape but the tape wasn't sticky enough. But they all were attracted to it. Going out to buy some real fly paper tomorrow.

This works great!

Fill a jar with an inch of vinegar, add dishsoap. Cover with saran wrap and a rubber band to keep it tight and then poke some tiny holes in the top. Works wonderful. Sit it beside your sink... you'll be amazed. White vinegar works best for me, my grandma's fruit fly's (knats?) like apple cider vinegar ??

Here's what I make and it NEVER fails!!

Mix gently together 2 Tbsp. sugar and 1/2 cup cider vinegar. Add 1 tsp. liquid dish soap (try not to make suds).

Put in a small bowl and set out where flies are. They will be gone in 24 hours.

Yay! I have a lovely pool of floating flies- I used about an inch of red wine vinegar and added a big glop of dish soap, then covered with saran wrap and poked holes in it with a fork. THANK YOU so much for your help mamas! ~H
